EDF World Bros is a really fun more casual take on EDF. However do make sure you have a gamepad to play with, the mouse support is really bad.

EDIT: The mouse support has been fixed with an update!!

The gameplay is quite different from mainline entries thanks to the character system where you get to pick 4 brothers/sisters each with their own abilities and weapons and you switch between them on the fly. The system works very well in practice and has a fair amount of depth when you build your team.

The graphics are voxel-like, it looks fine, not as nice as the mainline entries. The positive thing is that enemies and items are easy to see and the game runs smooth as butter on my old graphics card.

The sound and music are great, no complaints at all. Lots of real bangers in the soundtrack, both old and new songs.

Writing is more like a silly saturday morning cartoon full of 4th wall breaks and just wacky and silly stuff happening. A little bit cringe at times but overall entertaining. Not really comparable at all to the great writing in EDF5 for example. The missions are very creative with the goals though, which is quite fun.

The PC port overall is good, as long as you have a gamepad, aiming with a mouse just does not work as well as it does in 4.1 or 5 (FIXED). The menus are also much easier to navigate with a gamepad. Other than that the game runs great and I have not encountered any bugs in my first 6 hours.

really fun to play FPS roguelite, combat feels good, plenty of weapon variety, lots of different synergies to think of on each run when planning your build. very addictive

Best game I've played in a while, didn't think it could top the previous Ys titles I've been playing but it somehow did. Falcom are wizards when it comes to making fantastic action rpgs that don't delve too much into the rpg and never get boring. Looks great, runs great, sounds absolutely Falcom, plays great, and it keeps on surprising me with new cool mechanics and story beats as I get further.

Biggest and only issues I've had with the game have been:
- unusable mouse control, which is a shame since Memories of Celceta was great with kb+m. Like with Dark Souls on PC, make sure you have a gamepad. Dualshock 4 works great for me.
- controls take a while to get used to, easy to press wrong buttons with the trigger + face buttons skill system, and with the free camera it's sometimes harder to see when stuff is gonna hit you. This is really only a minor problem.

Every game in the series is top tier STG action and they sport some of the best soundtracks ever made. Nice to be able to buy one effortlessly on steam now.
