Clair had a few minor issues in my opinion, though it is a great game, and you should give it a try yourself. I will readily admit that, perhaps, the combat system was not exactly something that is within my personal preferences, and so I had to use the training wheels mode. That being said, I think the parrying mechanic was not tuned quite right. I don't feel like there was a good way for me to know when to parry. Unless it was by trial and error. Sometimes I felt there was a sound cue, but not always; other times I felt there was a slow down cue, but not always; sometimes I felt like there was a visual cue but not always. Even on easy I only parried about 50%-75% of the time depending on the enemy. It didn't feel exactly fair all of the time because of that. This could be a "git gud" issue, however. I saw an online guide say that dodging first can help learn the timing, and that dodging is easier, yet I didn't really find that to be true on either counts. Dodging, also, becomes pretty useless later on as you need to parry combos in order to do damage to the enemies. You can't play the entire game dodging. You have to be able to passably parry. Which, again, is a mechanic I found difficult because of the lack of consistent cues. But there are those who make expert look like a breeze, so it may be that the combat system just may not be to my preferences. I also wish, when it came to difficulty, that it was more modular. The parrying felt better on story mode but even then it felt slightly too easy because the enemy damage is reduced. I wish I could make the parrying easier while maintaining the enemies' base damage. One last thing, when leveling your character and choosing their stats, I felt as though one knew too little about the weapon scaling and other mechanics to be able to choose the right stats to level. Of course they have ways to respec your characters, but they are rare items so I didn't do so until the last act of the game. Same with leveling up weapons. I feel like it is slightly discouraged, on a first time playthrough, because the items to level up weapons are rare, the weapons all do different things, and you can't respec weapon level ups, so you don't want to choose a main weapon for a character until you have seen more, but by the time you have made that choice it's Act 3, the final (and probably the shortest) act. Going into the game with foreknowledge during replays, of course, this wouldn't be an issue, but on a first blind playthrough how to develop attributes and weapons aren't sufficiently communicated to the player nor are they incentivized. It was still fun but I think it could use a little tuning.

With all that said the main mechanic that got me through the game was the exploring, as they have great rewards and much weapon and ability variety. It was such a joy do to random combats because of the loot and items and so forth. That's actually the saving grace of combat, the fact that each of the characters are unique and fun to play. They feel great and the variety in their own abilities makes them feel wonderful, especially when one starts thinking of how they interact with other characters and their abilities, and then the universal abilities as well. When they added a second type of attack it also felt very satisfying to use and synergize. It opened up a lot of possibilities and always felt great to use. There is so much to do to be able to trick-out the character, their stats, and what they look like, and that was an amazing part of this game. The music doesn't even need to be commented on. It's great. Some of the best I gave ever heard. The story, too, is actually really good. I will admit I wasn't feeling it until over half way through Act 2. But when it hooks you, it hooks you. When they reveal much more about what exactly is going on in the world is when this story is elevated above a typical RPG fantasy adventure story. It's probably one of the best I have played recently, story-wise.

Perhaps it is even greater praise that, having a combat system that I personally found frustrating in some areas, that I still loved this game as much as I did, and even enjoyed combat many times! Just with some frustration from time to time. So I recommend picking up the game even if the Super-Mario-RPG-on-steroids style combat isn't exactly to your taste. Over all a really great game. I highly recommend it, especially if you are into RPGs with great stories and a slightly different style of combat then what is seen in your standard RPG.

Nightreign's core boss rush loop is very enjoyable. It has a nice verity of enemies, loot, and classes (as to be expected from a game using so many Elden Ring assets). It almost encourages risks but will punish the greedy, and doesn't feel unfair most of the time. Solo could use more work, however, as you need to play almost flawlessly to be able to have a chance in the boss rush. Duos should aslo be added. And there are a few bosses that just aren't fun as they stand. But overall this is a great co-op experience and has been a very enjoyable rougelite boss rush from FromSoft.

Fun and short boomer-shooter. The movement feels great and I will never get tired of it. The levels are non-linear and have a lot of open ended design; as I explored, for example, I found many different ways I could have approached a given area, which was quite fun to notice. Can be finished in an afternoon. Try it out.

Great. Levels are packed and dynamic, though there were a few that felt a little lackluster. Slavic Quake. Pick it up.

Me and my four friends feuded with each-other for 2 and a half hours after one of us shot the other unprovoked. 10/10.

A fun and short little retro-platformer. Some of the puzzles were a little esoteric and did sometimes need a guide but thought it offered some nice simple platforming and challenges overall. B/B+.
