Having completed the game and explored many crevices and cracks of its lore, questlines, zones and characters, I'm mixed on whether to give it a positive or negative review.

Upfront, it is an extraordinarily beautiful game that genuinely draws me in to going out of my way to see every last part of it. The art direction, soundtrack, voice acting, and added freedom in exploration make for a very engaging and strange adventure to undertake, and this is where the game shines at its best.

However, the game's release is one that feels, to me, to be showing a lack of proper playtesting, or at least proper re-evaluation of gameplay after feedback occurred. This is both in gameplay mechanics themselves, as well as general stability and performance. The game crashes frequently, it drops frames in fights, it drops inputs, there are severe memory leaks, consistent disconnects during multiplayer, and obscene bugs such as bosses being entirely invulnerable, missing their collision boxes, freezing animations, and lesser issues such as being clipped through the ground and dying to death planes.

For a game in development for so long, that's just not really good enough. I'm sympathetic to the struggles of production during COVID, but as a review I just have to look objectively at the product that's been released. But, I don't want it to detract from the game's stunning atmosphere and new ideas in other areas, of which left me and friends obsessed with Elden Ring for weeks.

My personal opinion aside regarding frustrating and obnoxious gameplay decisions and enemy designs, I did overall enjoy Elden Ring, and I don't regret playing it.

It could have been better, sure, but I still think it's damn well worth playing for anyone that's interested.

I was a bit late to Vermintide 2 and started playing after my friends had moved on to other games, but I've still found playing solo and joining random games to be a fun time. I've levelled a few characters to 30 now and done all the missions on Legend, and whilst there were some problems along the way I've largely had a good time, and really only ran into annoying bugs and errors maybe enough to count on one hand.

Optimisation is probably my biggest gripe, as I have a fairly beefy rig and yet I struggle to get 60fps in some areas of the levels, but that's maybe at about 5% of the time I'm playing.

Also glad to see the dev team is still plodding away at balancing the game, not abandoning it as is. I don't really care about new content because I'm still a fairly new player, but I can see why some people might have an itch for a few new levels.
