If you want to re-enact Pirates of the Caribbean, just play Blackwake instead (it's usually on sale for $1)

Great Concept, awful execution. They seem to mistake "Pirate" for errand boy, as that is all you're going to be doing - fetch missions. God forbid you encounter an enemy ship - get ready for the most boring and repetitive 2 hours of your life. Whoever wins the dogfights is whichever crew can mind-nummingly load cannons, repair holes, billow water, and eat food the fastest. If you don't have at least 50 wood, 25 food, and 3-4 players, chances are you're not going to win.

TL;DR: NEVER pay full price for this game, buy on sale and only play singleplayer unless you have three other friends ready to spend 4 hours doing fetch missions. If you want combat, play Blackwake

Edit: I have no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ idea why outposts aren't a safe haven or a pvp free zone, tryhards literally just camp and wait.

Edit 2: Don't bother collecting more than 5 chests at a time, if you somehow manage to defeat a skeleton ship and try to harpoon the loot, so much as sneezing on an explosive barrel will kill you and render you helplessly unable to do anything while your ship sinks and all your loot disappears.

Edit 6: Breathed on an explosive barrel today. It sank my ship and all my loot from the past hour. Yippee. Seas were too peaceful so it threw me into a new lobby with two Reaper's Bones ships. Immediately quit.

Edit 7: 100 hours in, I realize I may have judged the game too quickly, and I understand it much better than I did before. Before, I thought that the combat was the most terribly designed thing I'd ever seen. I'm much wiser now, and now, I KNOW it is the most terribly designed thing I've ever seen.
