Horrendously buggy, unoptimized, cluncky

Needs lots of work until deemed playable

Hellbreakers is a DOOM-like shooter that awards medals depending on your speed, kills, and damage taken upon level completion. There are currently 5 levels, each with about 10 secrets (you do not know how many secrets are in a level until after completion). There are 10 weapon slots, but I've only found 6 weapons.

In the Menu:
-quick and smooth game startup
-screen res and fov options
-competent mouse sensitivity slider
-easy key rebinding (although weapons are called "Weapon Slot #" instead of the gun name)
-the Play UI was originally confusing to me. All levels are unlocked in a list and are listed by highest difficulty at the top. When completing a level there is no "Next level" button, only replay.

In the Game:
-map design is quite good, non-linear but clear enough to not get lost. Some side paths feel pointless with no reward, but I'm probably missing the secrets.
-enemies are generic and nonthreatening with poor AI. Large enemies get stuck, melee enemies attack slowly, slow projectiles always shot at your current location
-weapons are unique from each other and are useful in different situations, ammo count feels good
-movement is bland, running straight everywhere is most efficient
-the medal system feels restricting. In order to get a gold, you must kill most of the enemies, take minimal damage (to the point that you won't pick up health), and do it relatively quickly (but the timer isn't hard to beat). I feel like my gameplay is being streamlined to kill enemies that pose no threat. Large enemies count the same as little mob guys, so they are just there as meat shields.

Art Style:
-enemy models are kind of generic
-environment is mostly cubes with a bland texture
-lighting is poor, corners are hard to see with because of no shadows
-sound design could use work, especially for the minigun and plasma rifle

The biggest thing I would like to see changed is the medal system. I wish you only needed to get gold in one category at a time. This way I would have the freedom to run past the enemies if I want. Also this way the difficulty of each category can be increased, because a speed run can be 100% focused on speed and a murder run can be all about killing enemies.

Overall I think Hellbreakers is a solid work-in-progress, but I hope they spend more time in developing the core of the game, like enemy design, before pushing for modding support. Also think about adding in another element for the player's input, such as a way to increase movement speed or weapon switching.

Fun single player so far. Multiplayer has potential but is under developed and has few players. Developers are mad dope tho, game will become more awesome

Perfect platform fighter for any skill level. Great tutorials and mechanics for beginners. Characters are balanced well and play very unique from eachother. Only complaint is playing on 60+ ping is pretty annoying

One if the best games ever made, but if you're on the fence about getting it, you probably shouldn't. It takes a lot of practice to just to the basics. There's very few players, so the best way to find a game is through the Reflex discord. A big feature of the game is the huge range of skill, most duals end with a score of 0-20+ which is cool to some people but not fun for others

NecroDancer is wonderful, it does so many thing right. Zones, enemies, items have great variety and are balenced well. Several interesting characters to play. Training areas to learn enemy moves. Active community with seeded speedruns. Really one of the best roguelike games made
