TL;DR Game is decent but it doesn't compare to the Arkham series.

The story is interesting, with a decent mix of familiar characters and legacy villains. The user experience is designed well for the hero-leveling system, gear selection, crafting, modding, and ability trees. Graphics, all-around, were excellent, as were the highly customizable suits for each hero.

Regarding the technical quality and expectations, the game has some significant issues that hold it back from being a standout. Some side missions can feel repetitive, the music was also meh. Additionally, there are a few hiccups that can be frustrating. Compared to the legacy Arkham games, the combat mechanics have regressed rather than progressed. Striking and evading in combat feels unpolished, nowhere close to the Arkham series quality.

If you're into stealth, you will be disappointed. The silent take-down animation takes an eternity to complete, it often gives the enemy enough time to detect you just by their usual patrols. There's also a lack of grapple points in most areas.

Why am I comparing this game to the Arkham series? Because the same people who built Arkham Origins also developed this game, the typical expectation is that you'll take something already good and evolve it, not diminish it.

Overall, Gotham Knights is a decent game for fans of Batman and Co., but it falls just short of being a must-play. If you're a die-hard Batman fan or just looking for a fun action game, it's worth checking out. Just be aware that it has its flaws and does not compare to the Arkham series.
