I've bought and refunded this game twice now. I WANT to love it but it's anti-cheat is SO incredibly aggressive it's caused my BSOD within about 20 minutes of playing it every time I've tried. I get the need to protect against cheaters but at the expense of a paying customers experience is crazy.

It may have had a rocky start, and at the time of writing has some issues with hackers making everyone invincible, but what a change. And with mods running too to let you touch up the imperfections that remain... amazing. If you were put off by the game that launched (and rightly so) give it a look now. It's a different animal entirely.

This game is REALLY good. It looks janky, it has some issues and still needs a lot of work. And YES, it's another Battle Royale game. But until you've tried Battle Royale in VR, you're missing out. The thrill of the fight and the sense of presence offered by VR makes this a real treat. The video above is just pure gameplay. No ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. And culminated in one of my favourite gaming experiences of all time.

Quite glad I decided to give the asymmetric multiplayer a go this month. :D Only ever tried the solo mode before and wasn't really all that impressed, but introduce a friend into the mix to play with a controller against you and it becomes a very different thing.

All around, the multiplayer was a lot of fun. But the game DOES still suffer from problems common with a lot of VR games right now. It still feels more like a concept than a full game. There is a lot this game does right. The lighting, the audio, the gameplay mechanics. All of them are a great start. But it still feels like an unfinished concept. A limited map variety, a lack of different enemy types and no real interaction beyond "shoot the bad robots" leaves me wishin the game could have more. Because it so deserves it.

The way the lighting casts shadows across the maps, the tense listening for where the enemies are when they're moving, the atmosphere it creates is wonderful and with some more content and more variety, it would be an instant classic. It's just let down by this feeling of it being a proof-of concept rather than a game. And sadly, I just don't think it's going to get it. In the past 8 months, it's had a single update and that update gave you the option of replacing your usual blue light with an orange pumpkin. That's it.

To the devs, I urge you to carry on and expand on this concept. There aren't enough games out there like it, especially with asymmetric local co-op. With some more love and variety, this could be something truly special. As it stands, I find it hard to truly reccomend at the price tag it stands at.

Okay... I'm going to be upfront. This game was a silly bit of fun, though I'm not sure it's worth £4. I got it in a bundle with a few other games for about £5 and at that price point, it's fan-♥♥♥♥♥♥♥-tastic.

The destruction, the freedom, the ability to pick up and throw/smash/eat anything you want is great. I took a great amount of pride in realising you could smash the helicopter containing your scoreboard out of the sky. There just isn't all that much to the game. You teleport, you pick up, you throw, you punch, you breath fire. That's about it. Okay, there's a hidden kitty mode that gives you laser eyes and cat sounds but that's the only real appreciable difference.

Throughout you'll be listening to the same ice-cream truck song and getting shot in the face by these annoying gnats of planes, you'll hear the same teleport sound each time and you'll be tasked with assignments like "Smash 250 buildings."On that front, there's really not a whole hell of a lot to do. The 4 levels are all just various sizes of city with the last offering buildings the same as you to flat out run through (provided your playspace is big enough, there's no artificial locomotion here) but they're still most indistinguisable.

However... that doesn't mean, by ANY stretch of the imagination that this is not something I'd reccomend. I whole-heartedly do. While it may not have much "game" to it, what it does have is one of the best stress relief setups in all of VR gaming. There's something massively cathartic about throwing a police car into a helicopter, watching them both fall out of the sky in to a building which then topples over and crushes a crowd of pedestrians, the survivors of whom you then fry up with your TOTALLY-NOT-A-RIP-OFF-OF-ATOMIC-BREATH™.

THAT'S where the fun lies in this game. After a hard day you'll REALLY enjoy just dropping yourself off in a city, bending it over, and making it your ♥♥♥♥♥. :D

This game is a ludicrous amount of fun and seriously evokes that feeling of having your own little living toybox in front of you.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0rpoRHCnVWc

If you've ever played the mobile game Flight Control, you already know what to expect here. There's an airport, there are planes in the air, get them on the ground without killing anyone. It's such a simple concept but in VR it just takes on a whole new lease on life. Ever aerial vehicle in the game is no more than 2 inches big and because of how VR works, it genuinely looks like someones breathed life into some adorable toys.

It's fun, it's challenging, it's gorgeous. With so many little extra mechanics added on to add a little flavour to your gameplay. Plane landed because of a fire? Shrink yourself down onto the tarmac, grab a hose and put it out. Generator died? Get one of your resident repair choppers to airlift it out and replace it with a new one.

Don't want to go through the campaign? That's fine too. There's all kinds of extra challenge missions to complete, including repelling an alien attack while guiding aircraft through to safety.

These devs have made a wonderful experience and quite honestly at a fantastic price point too. For the content present, you get more than your moneys worth. I cannot reccomend it enough. :D

EDIT: Take Two have since reversed their cease and desist but this review will remain negative as a reminder.

Love this game. Been playing it since release day on the xbox 360, rebought it on the xbox one, and then rebought it on the PC for all the usual benefits, including and ESPECIALLY mods. I've loved replaying the story mode as the Flash, taking down criminals in LSPDFR and replacing all the vehicles with real world counterparts. Now Take Two are basically outlawing modding by issuing a cease and desist to the largest and most widely used tool in the scene. Nope. Not cool guys. You've already had my money 3 times now for the same thing... ♥♥♥♥ off and leave me to enjoy it.

Gameplay: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=31bWtboQCbs

This game is hands down my favourite VR game of all time. The interplay between all the roles, the visuals, the audio, it all just FEELS like a true star trek game.

I grew up playing Star Trek Bridge Commander, the 2002 space combat simulation game that this is clearly a spiritual successor to sitting down in my favourite swivel chair/recliner to play this was like reuniting with an old friend... one who's had a hell of a facelift. It was wonderful.

Pretty much every person I've played with has been wonderful fun to meet and everyone is very happy to slip into their role. One of my favourite people to play with was sat at tactical and kept a rigid russian accent the entire, Nuclear Wessels and all and the lot of us were in fits of laughter.

I've had battles that missions that have come down to a razors edge between victory and defeat and celebrated with the crew afterwards in the briefing room, I've taken on the Kobayashi Maru and felt like I made a difference in it. I've made more friends in this game than any other game I've played, VR or otherwise.

Don't be discouraged by the price and don't play this for the singleplayer. Take the plunge and load into multiplayer. I guarantee you won't be disappointed.

Quick 10 minute, no frills, no crap video of the gameplay I describe below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XIU-x8EAxvI

I'm not normally a fan of horror games, honestly, they tend to bore me more than anything. The only one I've ever really enjoyed is Alien Isolation and that's only really because of my love for the source material and admiration for the world they built. But this game... holy ♥♥♥♥.

A friend of mine urged me to try it and I was admittedly curious to see how VR would change my perception of the genre and let me tell you... it changed it. And how.

I started the little small level you can access via the photograph of the girl on the door in the waiting room and then began playing like I always do in these games, somewhat non-nonchalantly trying to faff about whilst progressing to relieve the tension a little. But it really started to get to me. The atmosphere, the sense of presence, the use of roomscale... it all merged together to make a truly unnerving experience that now has me sitting curled up in my chair, lights on full brightness, still alert to subtle noises around the house.

If you were ever in any doubt about VRs ability to transform how you think about games... play this. If you don't normally get along with horror games and want something fresh... play this. If you have some cash going spare... play this. Now if you'll excuse me... I'm going to go make sure the doors to my house are all locked.
