Looking for a game to let you lose hours and hours of time doing, some days everything, and other days nothing at all? This is the game for you then! Drop in and spread democracy(read genocide) across the planet's surface. Show those natives that your return to space is more important than their lives. When you get bored... mods... sooo many mods.

Re-edit: Most of the time now you don't have to wait to get into the game and play now. The game is actually fun to play (now that I can play it, go figure). Still disappointed in the developers for releasing a game with such a severe bug for several video cards (the crashing issue below) and taking a month to fix it. Not to mention how ill prepared their servers were for a full month.

Edit: a full month after launch and they finally fixed the crashing issue but you still have to wait like 10 minutes to even get onto your ship the first time.

Horrible servers even two weeks after launch. most of 2 hours play time was spent waiting to connect to their servers. the rest was spent reloading and crashing as the game would crash for no reason I could track. my computer recommends ultra settings on the video card, I turned it down to low(a work around for a known bug on their forums) and it still would crash 50% of the time while deploying and within 5 minutes of actual playing if it let me land. Public paid beta is what this game is.

Very nice game. you're able to customize your ship basically any way you want. I will say if you don't like having your building be stuck behind story/area progression, play classic mode (or any other than "normal").

By far the best game you will ever download or play. I can't count the number of games I've loaded only to have my ears blown off because the sound is at 100%. This game starts off with sound and music at 0% and has you adjust them before you ever go into it. The rest of the game could have been utter trash and this alone would have rated it higher than any other game I've played. That being said the rest of the game is great for the type of game it is. good progression and the ability to play up close or from a distance.

Fun dungeon crawler game. In many ways similar to Diablo as far as play style but unlike Diablo, they're constantly coming out with new content that often gets to become part of the main game and not just the season. Best of all? It's free! Also, the game features tons of different play styles and customizations. Nearly all classes can be played with all weapons and it's often up to you to determine what skills you'll use (verses some games that only allow a small collection for each class).

Pros:
This is a very fun, but also very involved real time strategy game. I often like saying it's a cross between the diplomatic aspects of "Civilization V(I)" and "Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion's" play style. The graphics are nice and have been updated several times since the initial release. Only the host needs the dlc's for everyone to enjoy the in game content (minus the ability to play the races... if you want the races you have to get the dlc). Of course it also has tons of mods for when the base game gets too old. I've now played it for over 1200 hours and I definitely enjoy it but, I know many that don't because this game is a major micro-manage rts.
Cons:
While you can automate some aspects (some only after certain research) to get the full benefit you really do need to be hands on.
I will say I miss the old victory condition. For some reason they removed the ability to win by owning a % of the galaxy's planets(inhabited) based on solo or being in a federation. You also could win by killing all adversaries not in your federation. Now the only way to win is by Score on a specific in game date you determine when creating the game. This was always an option but I feel it's lacking when it's the only option and feels somehow less fulfilling. Especially since that doesn't actually allow for an allied victory.
Finally, the inability to get any of the steam achievements except by playing single player is a little disappointing. It's because they want you to use their "iron man" mode which force saves every in game day and that's not available in multi-player. Still it would be nice if a few were accessible there.
