ARMA has persisted through its many iterations as a game that focuses on warfare and simulates It to a very realistic level. I have reasons to like and dislike the game it has a fairly steep learning curve, but asking for help will usually yield decent results due to a active community. In my opinion the game has a bit of work needed in the field of optimization and server stability however beyond those two things the game is relatively strong in most areas.

Other than that i would recommend this game to anyone who was a fan of the Operation Flash-point games and is looking for a good open world military simulator.

1,358 hour edit: This game has evolved greatly from the alpha (around the time the above was written) into a high quality military simulator one of the great things about this game is its mod support and mission making aspects. This is great when combined with an active community and this game has just that. The best part of the modability is that mods range from anything as silly as swapping bullets for rabbits, to mods that revamp almost all game mechanics to make an ultra realistic and difficult expirience.

2 Years have past since I posted the original review and I would say the same thing now; I recommend this game to anyone who was a fan of the Operation flashpoint games and is looking for a great and challenging expirience.

Yet another update... at almost 2000 hours this game still provides amazing gameplay and new things to do through modding, this game just keeps on going.

2021 update: Is Good
