Don't get me wrong.

I've had to modify the game files to get this to run properly and couldn't launch it through steam.

The game itself was great. but you really are better off getting GZdoom or another DOOM WAD player

-Not recommended due to the fact that the game files supplied dont work without changing it.

You could also just get the WAD files from this and play them in GZDoom

Master levels is free, and Doom 1 and 2? Also i know its not COMPLETELY 100% vanilla, but its basically vanilla, since Dos-Box is an emulator for dos, since windows doesnt allow you do open dos. Its the closest to vanilla.

I didnt say change the vanilla game. I said change those game files (exchange DOSBox with GzDooM). The vanilla game didn't originally come with DOSBox so I don't know what you're trying to say. If you really wanted the vanilla game you wouldnt get it from steam since they HAVE changed the original game. And yes, you can get it for free, legally, as with the rest of the old doom series, AND more.

No, why wouldn't they sell the vanilla game?
Also I don't think this game is free.

I didn't say the game was bad. I know thats all you have to do, but wouldn't you think if steam were to sell a game, that you can get for free, that they at least would change those files for you?

Thats why its bad? you only have to to exchange dosbox for Gzdoom and rename gzdoom to dosbox.
