EDIT 07-12-2022: The Interloper A crash in question is not getting fixed. Regretfully, I must amend my review as such:

Do not buy Black Mesa or support Crowbar Collective.
Whatever the root cause of this issue is, it is something that became dramatically worse with the 1.5 update - while I've heard from friends that they encountered it prior to 1.5, I personally did not, and they agree that it became much more severe with the 1.5 update. I have stated this multiple times when reporting on the bug, as well as offered to provide explicit debugging information, and I received no response to any of my inquiries until a few days ago, when it was stated the bug is not being investigated any further.

I have been following Black Mesa since around 2009-2010 - in a way, it was what introduced me to Valve and its games, which has had a huge impact on the person I am today. Leaving a negative review - let alone one this negative - leaves a bad taste in my mouth, but the poor communication about this issue and its status ending in "won't fix" is completely unacceptable.

EDIT 08-26-2022: Literally saw an official community manager respond to a support request for a different Interloper crash - that's been well-known about since 2019 - with "There's basically no fix."

Just... Don't support this.

Original review as follows:

The Interloper A crash that the latest patch claims to fix is still present. This bug's been present since at least last November, if not even longer (that's when I recall encountering it for the first time, at least). I've been doing a lot of testing and investigating of my own to try and track down the cause, since the devs claim they can't reproduce it. I have no idea how much (if any) of my investigating has actually been useful.

There are a lot of subjective things about Black Mesa's design that I could (and have, if indirectly) criticise, but so long as there's a nigh-unavoidable (if you're unfortunate enough to be struck by it), show-stopping bug like this still present, I cannot recommend this game in good faith. Workarounds, mods, and "can't reproduce" are not acceptable answers.
