Easily one of the best roguelites. A phenomenal core gameplay loop with simple controls but a high ceiling for skill, Enter the Gungeon is a roguelite that doesn't feel item/drop/rng dependent to do well and have fun with. Bad runs happen, as is the nature of any roguelite, and your success when you're newer to the game can be luck driven, but as you get better and start to learn the ins and outs of the game you'll find the need for top tier guns, passives, and synergies to be less important.

I find myself having a lot of fun even when I lose a run simply because of how much fun the different guns are to use and the love and attention that's been put into the synergies in this game. This is one of the biggest things that sets EtG apart from other roguelites, even it's excellent peers like The Binding of Isaac and Slay the Spire: Hard-coded synergies. While discovering how different items synergize with each other is interesting and potentially exciting, having built in synergies on top of these that are fun, flashy, and potentially very powerful is just great.

I haven't yet gotten to the 1000 hour mark with EtG yet (like I have with Isaac, which I still like but no longer have the same excitement to play) so I can't say my love for this game won't wane some day, but for the at least the near future, Gungeon is one of my go-to games when I just want to have some fun.
