Ubisoft and Ubisoft connect is a horrible experience, be warned that after downloading this game on steam you will be asked for a CD key, which has no context and makes no sense.

Then after googling you realise this is their way of forcing you to setup a ubisoft account to play it, and then after spending 30 minutes trying to link your steam and Ubisoft you get in play the game and then it asks you for $30 to play more. This isn't even buying the game btw, just a year's pass. I paid for it thinking it would unlock another campaign or something but now severely regret it as it seems that it's all behind seasonal promotions. Just don't bother with this mess, the game itself is exactly what it says on the box but unfortunately that box is wrapped in several layers of disgusting business practice. I truly don't understand why they even have the game on steam and they don't mention anywhere about the true cost of the game.

The payment structure aspect of your review is very misleading. They had to change the plans because it wasn't working to fund continued development of the game. You can still play a ton of content without ever paying - the $20 a year is if you want continued access to ALL of the content that is frequently updated with new things. Also, it's $20 a year for a ridiculous amount of things. I have 20 hours and have barely done anything. This feels like a hit piece or you just didn't actually read what the free vs $20 plans were.

I already have an Ubisoft account and this process is still confusing as fuck.

It just opens a popup that says "enter a CD or activation code here" so I expect to check my email, and of course it's not there. Where is it? No idea. Seems to be a paradox of getting the key from your account, but needing the key to login to your account.

Weird-ass software.
