everything that lives is designed to end.
we are perpetually trapped in a never ending spiral of life and death.
is this a curse?
or some kind of punishment?
i often think about the god who blessed us with this cryptic puzzle
and wonder if we'll ever get the chance to kill him.

My all time favorite Sims game, I will always hold this game close to my heart. The amount of nights I stayed up playing this is insane, I used to have to wait so long for lots to load on my Windows XP, but it was always worth it. There is an amazing modding community too, I remember sitting at school with a USB drive downloading custom content for the first time, every second spent in this game was worth it. I already have this game physically and played it for so long, but will happily rebuy this to have it on steam. TS1 was amazing, and this improved everything and will still be my favorite, TS4 has nothing on this game.

I have all the dlcs already physically but this was an INSTANT buy just to have on steam alone. The amount of hours I've put into this game on my old computer is crazy, TS1 TS2 and TS3 will always be better than TS4. 100% worth the money.

fun if you like ubisoft nerfing every character you like, all of which already has such a limited loadout, has bundles and other micro transactions that are disgustingly overpriced

I've spent many thousand hours playing SimCity 4 on my old Windows XP, this game was always fun to play as a kid, and is very nostalgic to me - the music is great and the gameplay is as well. I was only 1 year old when this game released, and despite the game being 20+ years old, SimCity 4 holds up amazing and is still the best city simulation game to play. After a bit of tweaking to get it to run on the newer hardware of today, it runs well and is a great experience for anybody who is into city simulation, building and managment games.

The modding scene is still active, so you can play with many amazing mods to enhance your experience, though they aren't at all necessary, you can still have a great experience without them.

I've always been a fan of the Sims series, thousands and thousands of hours not on steam over the course of my life, everything from the original Sims/SimCity and beyond. (with The Sims 2 being my favorite along with SimCity 4) The Sims 4 has been out for almost 10 years, and still feels like a downgrade from the Sims 3 in terms of customization and even The Sims 2, when it comes to the map and entire aesthetic of the game.

It's sad to see the series devolve into what it is nowadays, overpriced, and dissapointing DLC's. You have Expansion Packs, Kits, Stuff packs Etc. There are so many of them, that to get all the content as of today (8/22/2024) you'd end up spending $1,284.19 play the full experience - With them still creating new overpriced DLC's. To me that is both disgusting and sad to see, and the main page of the game will ALWAYS show you something to have to do with their DLC's to constantly shove it down your throat - No wonder so many people pirate the content for this game.

If you want to play this game without DLC's feel free to, but the base game is extremely empty and feels restrictive - Luckily the modding scene has amazing creators and communities, that are very active for the game, so there's always some sort of content you can get for free from other the modding scene to make up for the lackluster experience that is the Sims 4.

Shame on both EA and Maxis.

EDIT: September 23, 2024

So EA decide to say they're not working on The Sims 5, and have some other projects - All of which are disappointing to hear about. This game - including the engine is now 10 years old, and they said they don't want players to lose their progress and reset with a new Sims 5 game (funny, coming from the same company that releases the same sports games every year)- then say they're still planning on updating and releasing more paid expansions, etc. The team behind this game continues to be a disappointment.

To any and all players - just go play The Sims 3, or even The Sims 2 both of which had much more love and soul. The Sims 2 had the best customization in the series, with the color picker etc, and made the game feel like it truly was yours to customize. Both the Sims 2 and 3, felt like they were made by people who actually cared about the game, and the attention to detail especially in The Sims 2 continues to amaze me.

The Sims 4 lacks heart, soul, customization is pathetic and still continues to bug out with every new expansion that this decade old engine struggles to run. With the decisions that EA and The Sims team have been making, it's like they're paving a way for future games like Inzoi or Paralives, just as EA did with SimCity 2013, paving a way for games like Cities Skylines.

Basically, they've decided to milk their cash cow for as long as they can, turning "The Sims 4" into "The Sims 4 Ever".

Again, extremely disappointed in this team and EA, this truly is a joke of a team and company.
