Best Star Wars combat sim in way too long. Strong core mechanics, but currently handicapped by significant bugs pertaining to throttle/stick integration, VR integration, and high-frame rates.

We're seeing EA release a game that's not riddled with predatory microtransactions and lootboxes (YAY!) but potentially, just like any given DICE game, was released in an unfinished state and may not be truly great until as much as a year after release.

If you're willing to play the game on a controller in a somewhat compromised state, go for it. There's plenty of fun to be had. If you're only going to be happy in VR with your HOTAS setup, wait.

I'm hopeful that these bugs will be ironed out shortly. If not, expect this review to be revised to a thumbs DOWN. Star Wars counts for a lot, but there are other space combat sims out there.

I spent over a year with VR before trying out what I assumed would be a low-budget, low effort, low fidelity minigame/sandbox demo.

I am an idiot.

Rec Room might just be the best thing out there on VR right now. It's the closest thing the scene has to "The Oasis."

Meet up with a community of pleasant fellow VR troopers to play paintball, laser tag, disc golf, charades, go on D&D style quests, or just socialize.

And if you don't see something you like? Make it, with the games in-depth but approachable visual and scripting tools.

I can already see that this is where the majority of my VR time will be spent going forward.

Holy hell! Throw the couch in the yard & tell your wife we don't NEED no coffee table anymore. This aint no "living room" anymore. This is AN ARENA!

Best melee combat in VR, easily. Where so many games are easily cheated by waggling your sword in the vague direction of the enemy, have no strategy, or no challenge, Gorn is just another beast entirely. At the point to where I was swinging one arm as hard as I could to move, and the other as hard as I could to punch, thrusting up from a full squat in order to "shoryuken" a guy out of the arena.

The most physical game I've yet to play in VR, even surpassing Soriento, the only game that's actually caused on of my friends to give himself a minor injury. After 2.8 hours of straight play on my first session, I had a good sweat going.

On top of this, it's got a wonderful sense of comedy that keeps in step with the visuals establishing a consistant and enjoyable tone. Still not probobly for the kiddies, but it's nothing that should spook any adult.

The only downsides are some background noise on vocal audio, 2 handed weapons that need work, and the serious fear that I'm going to go busting through the drywall and into the neighboring apartment. Seriosly, turn "floor bounds always on" ON.

10/10, would bash a man's head in with a rock again.

One of the best and most underrated VR experiences around. That there's not much community is a real shame.

The roguelike nature of the thing means a single campaign last for just about as long as most folks are willing to sit down for a full session of VR. I've mostly stuck to "Short" campaigns on easy and normal, but I imagine one with more VR stamina would also be satisfied by a long campaig as that is an option provided for.

So far, this is my favorite cockpit shooter. That it isn't flight based or 6DOF makes it more friendly for those without their VR sea-legs. On top of this, the aiming is limited to the vertical axis, and you're allowed to strafe, but rotation speed is limited by the agility of the tank you chose. As such, you're never spinning quickly, which is what upsets most folks' motion sickness.

I'm looking forward to a chance to play this in 4 player co-op at some point, as there's enough build variety and limited enough resources that I fully expect to see specialized team members, wherin you'll generally want to remain somewhat more of a generalist in solo. Solo is quite fun though. Recent patches have fixed up a lot of the weapons balance issues I would have complained about at launch.

The most common complaint I see is a lack for touch controls but, honestly, I enjoy this equally with an XBOX controller and with mouse and keyboard and can only see the motion option slowing down the action which, though it could be fun and simulationy, that would be a different game. Battlezone is first and foremost arcade-y action.

Not nearly as good as the previous title. The loot system results in an armoury that, even once you've maxed everything out, still feels anemic. Everything is just a little less original, a little less fun, a little less funny, a little more repetitive, etc. If you're a huge fan of the previous game and find it at a major discount, try it for the progression in the story and a bit more Shadow Warrior, but otherwise I can't recommend this.

Look, I love a 90's classic shooter as much as the next guy. That's not the issue here. The 90's aesthetic on offer here is not enough to paint over a buggy, simplistic, cheap feeling game. From the opening slide-show "cinematic" to the generic art style, it just feels bargain bin.

All of this would be escusable if it were good, dumb fun, but the gunplay feels puny (no umph to the audio feedback, even the weakest enemies take several headshots to kill), and the design seems at odds with itself. Am I supposed to be running and gunning towards the exit at breakneck speed, or collecting all of these medalions and finding all of these secrets?

This is not an update of a classic, as there is no updating. This is a less sophisticated title than RtCW. There are much better old-school shooters on the market.

The deepest open world RPG, in both mechanics and setting, of all time. The best of the Elder Scrolls Series - though that depth does come at the cost of some rough edges.

The leveling up, trading, & magic systems are easily exploitable, and the quest log is rudimentary at best, but these are not things that are objectively "wrong." By the time you learn to exploit those systems, you'll have already had a blast with them and, most importantly, anything you don't like can easily be modernized with mods at this point.

If it aint good, I've wasted a really unfortunate ammount of my life! Simply satisfying to control. As soon as you get bored, there's something else to try. By the time you're running out of variety, you're weeks of gameplay in. Much less grindy than at launch.
