Neon White is one of the best gaming experiences I've had for the last four years, which isn't saying a lot, considering there hasn't been much of anything to contest that, even so, Neon White wasn't something I walked into for the visual novel element for, but for the gameplay.

GAMEPLAY

Neon White prides itself in having CRISP gameplay. This feels like it's been tested, every single element in every single level is there for a reason.

The learning curve is genius, not once does the game EVER hold your hand, you are expected to learn, not by randomness, neither by experimentation, mostly just common sense.

It's a fast-paced game that rewards careful planning, it sounds a bit counter-intuitive, but analyzing the layout of a stage before committing to it pays off in huge dividends.

It caters to just about every type of player, from the hardcore, to the casual and even those just looking for the visual novel element. Neon White has something for everyone, and it definitely feels like one of those crisp source-engine movement servers.

STORY

You play as NEON WHITE an estranged assassin finding himself in H E A V E N .

Why are you here if you're an assassin? Why are your partners-in-crime in here too? It's a bit suspicious that everyone else brought here to this paradise are also assassins... something's definitely up.

Run your way to the truth, or don't, not that I care.

All of that aside, Neon White definitely gets my seal of approval both in gameplay and story elements, granted it can be very cheesy and cringe at times, definitely relying on anime tropes and such, but- hey. I managed to get hooked in, maybe you can too.

What you see is what you get, at least for the base game.
Good writing, good everythin'.

Don't buy Cult of The Holy Detonation, trust me.

Steeltown is good though.

I want to know who THE ♥♥♥♥ LOOKED AT THIS AND RELEASED IT.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, this is so bad. I wanted to like it, but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, it's so bad.

For some god-forsaken reason, some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ developer looked at the gloriously intricate combat they have made and went:

"Okay, now make it so all of the boss fights requires the enemy to be doing something first, but not before your guys do something that leaves them super ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ open to an attack, therefore not letting them do the thing they have to do before the enemy does it."

Why!? WHO THE ♥♥♥♥ DECIDED TO MAKE IT OBJECTIVE BASED LIKE THIS. I felt like every single ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ boss fight in this DLC was ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cheesed by me. Case in point, at some point in the game, you have to disable 3 turrets.

This process requires your rangers to do these steps:
1-RUN (waste ap) to one of the switches
2-USE (waste ap) on the switch, to activate ANOTHER NPC TO DESTROY.
3- Do all of this, all the while the ranger on the switch, and every other one has to contend with INFINITELY SPAWNING NPCS FROM HATCHES?

WHY ARE YOU THROWING INFINITE NPC'S AT US, ALL OF MY FIGHTS FELT LIKE I WAS ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ IGNORING THEM AND JUST GOING FOR THE OBJECTIVE.

Night Terror can't save this, and this sure as hell isn't worth any ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ money, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

Pretty good, ignore the older reviews saying it's bugged, I quite frankly have not encountered any of them.

The non-lethal option is very creative, and people who are complaining about it clearly didn't use the other items to support such a run (Look at the grenades, vehicle weapon, etc).

Steeltown is a great, it fiddles with some of the concepts that Cult of the Holy Detonation takes way too ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ far.

Definitely the better of the two.
