So Disclaimer: This game is NOT what you think it is. If you're specifically looking for a rogue-lite deckbuilding game akin to Slay the Spire with plenty of opportunities for different and unique builds and runs, this isn't the game for you.

Having said that, this game blew away my expectations in a very different way, and it's honestly one of my favourite single player indie games I've played in a while. The game does rely on not seeing any spoilers, so if you have some free money and time to spare, and you want a fun, creepy game that throws you off guard and makes you question reality, then this game is for you.

This game is truly terrifying, but incredibly addictive. I appreciate it when horror games don't bombard you with cheap jumpscares, and actually take advantage of atmospheric and psychological horror. This game does it brilliantly. Any jumpscares you do encounter feel organic and keeps you on your toes.

The things the devs have planned for this game in the future makes me incredibly excited to stick along for the ride, and keep hunting ghosts with friends. If you want a gem of an indie horror game, this one will keep you hooked for sure.

This game has come such a long way since it first released, and is now an incredibly fun game to boot up for a few hours with friends. With all of the grind-heavy games I play, it's really refreshing to play this, decide what sort of voyage we want to do, and then go exploring! The visuals are great, and the ocean is genuinely beautiful, and it's just a pleasing experience overall!

The only major downside is the forced PvP. It's a given since we all play in servers, but it's frustrating when I just want to do my own thing, only to be hunted down by reapers or general player ships who won't leave me alone. It would be nice to be able to avoid that, especially when playing solo.

If you have some friends to play this with, it's a must-have for a good hangout game session.

I think I've spent more time playing dress up frame and decorating my ship, instead of actually liberating the solar system from Wrinkly Stormtroopers, Space Capitalists and the worst case of Athlete's foot known to mankind.

Yeah it's p alright

Boy, I really slept on this game until it came out of early access, and I deeply regret waiting that long. This game is quite honestly a masterpiece. Only a few hours into the game and I'm hooked. Very pleasing to look at, controls feel buttery smooth, music is outstanding, the dialogue is way deeper and more dynamic than I ever anticipated etc etc...

Quite possibly a contender for best new game I played this year.

This game came from seemingly out of nowhere, but boy, is it a lot of fun! Slay the Spire had given me that itch to play deckbuilding games, and this has already been a great answer. It combines a solid deckbuilding game with a hint of tower defense, and it works together very well! The classes are fun, and the dual 'clan/class' mechanic has been fun to experiment with, especially given the 3 floor 'board'. Also, the music is surprisingly good!

My only stipulation is the lack of enemy variety in the long term. The enemy clans are pretty interesting, but I'd love to see more enemy factions in the future, and maybe a chance to see one of multiple bosses at every milestone.

I'll be honest, at first I was a little hesitant about the idea of the game going from 2D to 3D, but this game is wonderful! It still has the core feeling of the first Risk of Rain, but it feels so much more dynamic and fun to explore! The soundtrack is once again top tier. Chris is talented for sure!

If you like chaos, this game has tons of it. Characters are very unique, and the characters returning from the first game still feel as fun as they used to!

Worth picking up, especially with friends!

I played a ton of this back when it was released on the PS4 and had a blast. However, because I played it solo/with random players, I picked it back up on PC to play with friends, who also just picked this game up for the first time during the winter sale. And it's been so much more fun than ever before! The game still has some issues with connectivity from time to time, and the fact that you cannot join friends in assigned quests until everyone has viewed the cutscene in their own quest is completely unnecessary and takes away from the flow of the game, but besides that? This is definitely a fun experience to sink a lot of hours into with a group of friends!

Just be aware that there is a lot to take in as a new player, and it can be easy to feel discouraged to try out the different weapons offered, and all of the features in the game, so take your time with it!

Subnautica is a game that truly sets itself apart from so many other survival games out there, and honestly, the game can be super hard to put down once you play it. The diverse biome, the snippets of story, and the satisfaction of eventually establishing your own base really makes for a fun time. You can definitely tell the devs put so much heart and soul into the game too, which is something I always appreciate!

It's also absolutely terrifying sometimes. The daunting feeling of swimming away from the shallows and suddenly not being able to see the bottom, The deep and dark caves and secret biomes, and from what I've experienced, your first encounter with a Leviathan Reaper, whenever that may be.

Whether you're a fan of the exploration, the challenge of survival, or you simply love the theme and aesthetic the game has, it'll definitely not disappoint. Just watch out for those predators, yeah?
