I have not played through that much of the game but it is honestly one of the best games I have played in recent times

When this DLC released I was out of country so I didn't experience the buggy mess it was on launch, but since getting back I can now safely say I still don't like it.

To start off, not a lot was changed, 2 new elites were added, both of which punish you for actions often out of your control either by taking a massive amount of damage or taking gold. When a huge amount of the game has damage that comes from proc chains and items doing damage without you directly hitting the enemy like Will-O-The Wisp and Ukelele, it does not feel like you have been outplayed by an elite, or that you can even play around them, it just punishes you for getting certain items.

Aside from the elites the main new interactions you will get from this DLC are the 2 new enemies and the 2 shrines that take up a huge amount of the directors credits that take away spawns like chests or other sources of items and neither shrine offers enough in return to be worth it. The 2 new enemies are fairly well made, even if very annoying to play against where it is just a searching game trying to find where they are or where they went before they do some of the highest damage out of any enemy (why can overloading children easily 1 shot) and are just not very interesting or dynamic to have in your map.

The biggest issue is the items, I have started playing with the DLC off because of the items, every single white item is just inventory clog, there are 2 that have slightly redeeming factors that I can think of and out of that I would only ever consider taking 1 of them in a niche situation like a Forgive Me Please build. The white items water down the supply of good items by so much I lose a considerable amount of consistency when I go entire runs where the only printers I find are somehow less useful than bison steak, I would rather take 100 fireworks than 100 antler shields in any run ever. At the same time as all of the white items are actively making the game harder, if you get lucky and get the right green or reds, it because a breeze, sale star and sonorous whispers are so absurdly good they can single handedly win a run. Where the other reds they added are mid or bad along with the greens, it just feels like none of the items added fit with the game, they aren't creative, they don't enhance some runs and are useless in others, they don't feel like they mix with the rest of the game, they just exist and are either the cause of an awful run or a free win and I prefer the consistency of not having the DLC on.

Finally the characters are ok, they feel very different than the rest of the cast, false son is just braindead easy but so is some of the original cast, my main issue is it feels like all of them require a lot of button presses. When the game gets chaotic late into a run, often you can start to rely on one ability with support from the rest (commando you stop using your secondary or special so much and it is mainly primary and utility with some support from the other two, loader it is mainly utility and secondary, bandit it is mainly primary and util, so on) while all of the new characters it feels like they require a button mash to utilize them properly, where every skill should be used on cooldown and it just requires more active thought to be taken from the fight and is weirdly distracting.

I don't want to touch on the new stages, going to false son is awful, the climb to get to him is awful, the fight is awful, the other 2 stages before are just normal they don't really stand out except for in 1 way in which I'll get to at the end. The alternate stage 5 is ok, it just feels like it relies too much on having vertical mobility, which by stage 5 you often have but if you get unlucky, a 3 minute climb to the top of the stage is truly an experience of all time.

The only thing I think is redeeming about this DLC is Chris Christodoulou's work, the piano goes insane, he once again created a fantastic soundtrack and it is unfortunate I won't get to hear it in game much when I don't want to play with the DLC on because of how it ruins so many runs.

This game has been out for 26 hours and I have 10 more hours then that, not sure what happened but WR for most huniepop hours speedrun pog.

Real review time: I originally got HP1 as a joke, 300 hours later I can say it was great, but if you liked HP 1 for the characters and bonding, do not get this game. All the characters have become too horny only talking about sex with very little personality outside of their jobs and past. Nora is one of the few that actually has realistic actions. If you are into the actual dating aspect of a game just go get HuniePop 1.

Along with the new cheap porn game feel of "You have to ♥♥♥♥ all the girls to save the world". It feels like a lot less connected to why I originally got the game. Don't get me wrong it is a very high quality game with good voice acting and high detailed art and facial expressions, but HunieDev feels like they wen't more for making a porn game and not a dating game. It was still made a lot better than many Nutaku games, I just wish there were more story and more depth.

I love the new changes to difficulty, with the new choice of taking baggage in trade for an item slot, transitioning to keep up stamina is much more fun with a higher skill cap, I have not yet beat the game so I am not sure about the end game content which was done very well with HuniePop 1 (I will edit onto the end later). This change to gameplay is a well introduced change to this franchise's it's notorious addicting style, I will probably put many more hours into this game then the prior simply due to this change. The depth in characters was definitely put into the gameplay, with the shop giving a variety of tools to help you on dates with food to provide unique stat bonuses and a new way of leveling up your stats. I started this game on medium difficulty and I have been adjusting to the change after how long I spent on the base game, I am excited to try incel difficulty once I have fully understood how to optimize my matching.

Unlike HuniePop 1, these characters are a lot more varied in terms of style (but as I said not personality). When I was looking at the characters in the trailer on the steam page, I was worried about many of them being unlikeable, my best example would be Zoey who I originally thought I would completely ignore, I have since changed my opinion and am fine with her, (♥♥♥♥ sarah if you like sarah your mother beat you as a child). This new cast outside of Lola and Jessie, cover a lot more traits that many desire, ignoring the whole Lillian Ashley incest thing, I can understand why many of these characters would be together. There is not much more to say because as I said not as much detail was put into the characters in this sequel, from my description it does sound kind of contradictory to how I described them as having no personality, but what I meant by that is how little they actually feel like a real human, each character is given a label, and then they only act like their label, such as Sarah being a weeb, is only a weeb, with her 3 atrocious baggage's making up the rest of her. I really dislike Sarah and you can probably tell but once you play you will see why.

This game is more of a spinoff like HunieCam rather than a sequel, all characters but 2 of my 3 least favorite from HuniePop 1 and Kyu were not kept in, and the near complete revamp to gameplay makes it feel like a completely new series. I have so far been enjoying this game a lot and I hope to god no female ever sees my steam profile; despite the complaints I have seen from others so far, I think this game was very well made with good changes and an enjoyable 20$ spent.

TL;DR HuniePop 2 is a lot different than HuniePop 1, do more research if you are going to simply buy it because it is a sequel, the characters are all new with no story continuation, the gameplay is almost completely different. If you want high quality DATING game go play HuniePop 1, if you want a high quality dating GAME play HuniePop 2

This is my most recommended game I have ever played, it has brought newfound life into my otherwise drab and weary existence. Between the high skill ceiling gameplay to the immersive stories and connections between your favorite characters, this game will keep your brain running throughout the day, playing or not. With the leading game in its industry with its sleek art style and its amazing audio you can truly feel like you are interacting with the girls as if you were yourself.

This games replayabillity is insane with the custom loadouts you can test for strongest or most fun ways to play, to the achievements you can spend hours grinding for while still keeping its fun factor. With every replay you can feel how your skill has improved as you speed through it faster and faster always getting the high satisfaction of getting unlucky RNG and clutching it with 1 turn remaining. This game can keep itself fresh every time you return.

There are enough variety in personalities and looks to create personal connections between all of the girls while never feeling like there are too many to choose from with how recognizable each character is simply from what line they have said or from their voice alone. With the more undesirable personalities granting greater satisfaction from the characters you enjoy more.

The achievements are all very great with your own input being the greatest factor along with being difficult but not unfair, the feeling of finally finishing your final night after 4-5 failed dates in a row, I will chase this high for the rest of my life. While the more casual achievements can be completed in only a few hours of work, with the desire to now return to complete the difficult ones out of pure love for this game.

Overall, I would always recommend this game thoroughly as I have enjoyed the content creators who introduced me to this game to the amazing development that brings me back I hope it brings to others what it has bestowed upon me.
