this game is an absolute classic.

this is one of the most distinguishable games based solely on it's art style. how this game stands out and makes itself different from other traditional first person shooters is what makes this game so excited and so great. i've played team fortress 2 for over 2 1/2 years and in those 2 1/2 years there was always something to do when playing this game. there was always a way to have some type of fun whilst playing this game rather it be playing on traditional valve servers, playing on community servers, or exploring the trading servers and meeting amazing people apart of the great community that has grown off of this game. the inclusion of items such as hats and wacky types of weapons is what keeps this game fresh and fun. the game knows that it is not to be taken seriously and it capitalizes upon that fact.

the gameplay is absolutely phenomenal. the plethora of different weapons and the amount of different game modes involved in this game is why i have over 1,000 hours in this game. the game takes the traditional default weapons and transforms them into a totally different weapon impacting the entire way that you would play the game. this adds to the versatility of the game and keeps the game fresh. there is also over 9 game modes in this game (not including special holiday events and community servers) that you can explore. all of this may seem very intimidating to a new player but valve presents all of these weapons and game modes in a way that makes it easy for users to get involved in the game early on and this is what really hooks tf2 players, how easy it is to navigate inside the game and how accepting it is to new players.

the community in this game is one of the best gaming communities i've come across so far. there's always going to be your fair share of mean people playing this game making fun of people but the amount of mean people playing this game has most definitely declined over the years. people playing this game are generally very generous and want to help you learn. this game brings people together who would most likely not be friends in real life and that is a great thing. i've seen friendships form between teenagers and younger kids almost like a master and apprentice type thing; it is almost like the teenager is teaching this younger kid so he can pass down the torch to teach an even younger generation of people to play this game.

there has never been a game that has done what tf2 has done. you may point at overwatch and say that the game is very similar but hear me out. team fortress 2 was the first game of its time to make a class based first person shooter that was self aware and based itself off of the comedy and wackiness of it's characters. the game has never taken itself seriously and that's why the game is absolutely legendary. the game takes stereotypes like the big scary russian guy, normalizes that stereotype, and creates it into the everloving heavy weapons guy. they've done this for every single one of the classes; the scout- a teenager from boston, the soldier- a stereotypic american soldier, the pyro- a mystery man from nowhere, the demoman- a classic drunken scot, the heavy- previously stated, the engineer- a humble man from texas, the medic- a psychotic german, the sniper- an everpissing aussie, and the spy- a mysterious frenchman. the diversity of these characters is what sets them apart from other games and is what makes team fortress 2 a staple in the gaming community.

tf2 is the gateway to pc gaming. i'm telling you right now i would have never played any type of pc game if i hadn't stumbled across a youtube video of jerma and star playing tf2. my interest for the game immediately sparked and once i downloaded the game on my family's horrible laptop for the first time, i was hooked. i played the game all the time nonstop and made so many friends when i was playing the game. these same friends introduced me to different types of games, most notably smite and csgo. tf2 is the reason why i prefer to play all types of video games on a pc and why i have dumped so much of my money into a great pc.

lastly, the culture of the game sticks with you. no other game has a culture much like team fortress 2. people who have played the game automatically associate certain words or phrases with the game; phrases such as: meeddddicccc, hats, and sandvich are all phrases that are linked to this game. everybody who plays this game plays this game with a passion and because they love the community that team fortress 2 has created. yes this game may be extremely old, but it is a very important game that is rooted in the hearts of many solely because of its amazing community.

team fortress 2 is a timeless masterpiece.
