TL;DR: Game filled with cheaters. Still has bugs that are years old. Servers should have a higher tick rate than 20. Current seasons don't feel that fun that it used to be. EA pushing Respawn to focus making more cash-grabbing store items. Controller's aim-assist is still too powerful against MnK and it feels frustrating to go against. Developers are not listening to their players well enough. Do not start playing if you were planning to.


I've picked this game up at Season 1, but I never played the game much until Season 11. The game brought spark in my eyes as one of the only battle royale games I much enjoy. I've had a blast in some seasons, okay for some other seasons, and now, these recent seasons of Apex has been really disappointing in my opinion. And it feels it's getting worse.

Recently, EA decided to take approach of revamping the battle pass to make it more money hungry in the next season, in which they explained it's a positive outcome to the community... which is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ lie. They keep adding more money-grab cosmetics which usually looks ♥♥♥♥. If it's not, it's mostly a lot of money. And I feel like they're making that move more prominent than focusing on the real problems of Apex currently, and the problems it has had for ages.

This season (21) currently has been the most annoying with meta, being only a few characters viable if you don't want to put yourself at an immediate disadvantage. The game has been talked to death about how many bugs are in the game, lots which have been in for years that hasn't been fixed and/or investigated yet. Plus Apex should honestly improve its server's tick rate. It's at 20 tick rate at the moment and it's really bad if you consider how many times people get killed behind cover, knockdown shields, doors, bullets flying beside you but it's actually a hit according to the server, etc. Plus, the servers have been really buggy/broken for some time now. I'd either not be able to connect to games, or have games where I'd be at higher ping than usual or high packet loss and it would be actually unplayable, which is devastating if it happens in ranked.

Cheaters killing every game you play to make matchmaking a nightmare to play in. There's been many blatant cheaters that outright spinbot and ♥♥♥♥, and will climb to top 100 ranks on new accounts to either raid the leaderboard or boost accounts. And sometimes you'll rarely know if the person you died to, is a subtle one, or just a better player than you because some try to hide their cheats as well and it's difficult to tell. It's been that mentality for most people, especially high elo ranks (Diamond, Masters/Preds.)

And controller players, I know how much drama this causes, but controller on this game is too easy to pick up. Yes, controller doesn't have a couple of things that MnK users have, which most of it is movement capabilities, but honestly, movement against controller is still disadvantageous to the movement player. As much as how cool and good movement is and can be good, it's not going to win most of your games as much as aiming does. (Tell me how many pros switched from Mnk to controller and tell me how many MnK players use stylish movement to win their tournament games.) Aim-assist is still strong enough to help the player track the enemy, even with crazy good movement. Aim-assist has been said that it isn't good in long-range fights, but most fights in every game usually are short to medium range so that point rarely matters. Controller's aim-assists pushes the skill floor up closer, while MnK raises the skill ceiling higher, showing off how much a MnK user needs to do in order to be the best. I can't say how I would show off how to fix it or anything because I don't code, but imo, it needs further looked in to.

I am most definitely moving away from this game when Season 22 starts until the cheater problem is fixed or being focused. And also maybe if they don't put the new battle pass changes. And in my opinion, I'd advice any player to do the same either now or once Season 22 starts. Even a lot of popular and/or pro players are doing the same thing and I'm following along.
