Now that Sony reversed their decision, I'll say this game is very good and extremely fun to play, I haven't run into too many bugs (aside from the terminids), and never a bug that makes me not want to play it. Performance is OKAY but I hope they will optimise it more in the future as of right now performance has had some frame drops that previously weren't there in earlier versions of the game

HMG my beloved...

I've been a big fan of the Orcs Must Die series since a friend introduced it to me just before OMD2 came out, so I had picked this one up when it was on sale. But before I got around to beating this game the sequel came out and I began playing that instead, because who wouldn't want to slay orcs with a buddy?

Anyways now that I've had the urge to play the series again, I went back and started from the beginning. After completing WarMage (and just getting started on Nightmare mode) I feel it's as good a time as any to drop a little review.

This game is pure fun. Even after being almost a decade old at this point, the game has aged incredibly well, and visually has not suffered (thanks to the game going for a more cartoony approach, rather than realism). The first few levels are very basic and the trap selection is limited, but that helps train you on the core of the game, as well as improving your aim and non-trap orc killing ability (which you will need in some of the later levels). The game quickly starts ramping up in the challenge factor, and requires you to use your knowledge on how traps interact with each-other to create the perfect orc-slaying machines. The game has a ton of replay value, either through trying out new traps on old levels to unlock missed skulls or for new highscores, or for testing your skills at a more fast paced nightmare mode, giving you little to no time to set up traps before the hoard is upon you. Though it is a fairly simple story, the storybook-like cutscenes are nice to see after each act, and our main protagonist Maximilian always provides some good chuckles while playing, and his voice actor did a perfect job in nailing the cocky underdog that he is.

All in all, this is a fantastic little indie tower defense TPS and I highly encourage you to pick this one up if you ever see it on sale, as it is just as fun to play as its sequel. I'm looking forward to OMD3 when it releases on Steam after its timed exclusive period on the Stadia is done, and all in all thrilled to see that series is continuing after some rocky times that Robot Entertainment hit over the last couple years.
