This game relies too much on workshop, offers too little replayability as is. It is still cool. Barely recommend.

You bought the game? Haha, silly, get ready to spend 4 times more on DLCs, because half of all blocks are locked if you do not pay. Ridiculous, game is ruined for me. Not because there are DLCs, but because every step you take in game, they remind you that you dont have permission to use something because you didnt pay. Want to begin your first game with that scenario? Pay! Want to create a ship out of that workshop blueprint? The guy who made it payed, so you should as well! Want to use that block in your build, that functions exactly the same and just looks slightly different? Pay!!!!

I wanna talk specifically about last one. Payed blocks show up ingame with only hint that its paywalled being small icon in the corner. The same type of icon that half of non payed items use as well, so it doesnt exactly tell you right there that its payed. And its only when you try to use it, you realise you cant, and when you read the item description, it says you have to buy a DLC for that. That is so so so so so f-ed up.

One more game to prove the point, that pirates get better experience for lower price. Its not criminals who keep piracy alive, its games like this one.

Initially i was going to write a good review about how this game is basically Empyrion: galactic survival, but better in every aspect. Yes, it may be, but empyrion is at least a project of passion, not a money milker. But i dont want to give my time to either play this game on steam or writing a good review, If you treat your player like a money bag, dont be surprised about what happens next

Loading screen simulator. I got only an hour a day to play because of work and study, and i spend half of that time to watch my randomly generated world loading. And i have decent PC, cant imagine how much ppl spend on loading screen on 8gb ram

Short: cool game. Worth buying if you have time and love space building
Long: (summary on the bottom if you are lazy)

Well, im with this game for a loooong time now. I knew and played it long before i added it to my steam library, and i think theres around 500 hours that i can add on top of what is it in steam. Enough history, heres review:

STORY. I still havent figured out the full story yet because im not a fan of new gamemodes, i play only good old sandbox survival, without unlocking parts and other shish. But the main line is, we are some kind of artificial being that is represented as a drone. And in galaxy where we are living in some horrible things happened. Aliens came from the center, destroyed everyone and put the void barrier around center. And the main goal of the game is to blow up main alien ship at the galaxy core.

SETTING. I probably dont need to talk about how the game feels. Trailers do the job nicely. It is in large scale, we are talking ships sizes measured in kilometers and the speeds in hundreds of meters per second, or even kilometers per second. So the game is filled with huge capital ships and spacestations.

GAMEPLAY. Oh boy. At first we are playing as little truck-sized drone, and we need to gather basic resources to build first ship of the size of 9 story building. We spawn at the edge of galaxy, so to progress we are slowly making or way to the center. The closer you are, the stronger and bigger the enemies, but loot is better and new new stronger materials start to appear. There are a couple of things you can do for resources to build your ship: mining, disassembling defeated enemy ships or straight up buying them from resource station (wouldnt recommend at the beginning of the game).

The main currency called credits is whole another story - there are tons of fun methods to get it. Doing faction quests like deliveries and assasinations, finding hidden stashes, selling valuable asteroids to factions, selling resources and goods (there are actually working economy with demand and offer affecting the prices), steal goods from one factions and sell it to others (my favourite), and selling modules and guns. So, modules and guns can be crafted on special spacestations, found in stashes, traded or most commonly, punched out of enemies. There is a pretty good system of managing the modules and weapons.

And of course, the core and main mechanic is building. You can build literally whatever you want, there are a few limitations: your imagination and keeping your power generation above consumptoin, or else your ship will malfunction. The only real limitation in building is your RAM size. Theres variety of parts to choose from that has different functionalities and shapes. Hulls, hangars, engines, generators, shields - sometimes you have to really think where to put all of those to make a functional ship. It is worth checking out yourself.

Movement is, in my opinion, as close to real life as it should be in a game like that. Your ship has inertia, and if you rotate the ship, its gonna still fly the direction you flew before. There are multiple ways of reducing such inertial drift, such as making the ship lighter or having more shunting engines.

Is it grindy? Yes, to a degree. But once you get yourself a fleet, the captains will do all grind for you, while you can have fun building your ship or finding out is there an edge of the sector.

GRAPHICS. Irrelevant. For sure, the game has good textures, shadows and stuff, but really, for a game with such a good core idea, graphics arent the spot to complain about, its similar situation to minecraft. But developers actually did a great job on this one anyways.

DIFFICULTY. Can be set from newborn baby mode to hard ass space captain that eats pirates on breakfast and aliens on dinner. It is fully customizable for your desired experience. There are also different game modes such as creative, if you dont want to bother yourself about gathering resources and want to focus on building.

SOUNDTRACK. Isnt that bad, but nothing good either. Usually i play with ingame music off and my own playlist on.

BUGS. Ive seen many light bugs, but none heavy. 99% of them is just game not keeping up with what should be drawn on ships and ship debris, and what shouldnt. Those are purely visual and disappear after a few seconds. Apart from that, game is almost bugless. The other rare bug is when skybox isnt rendered properly, and there are square planet, or black spaces where colorful space should be.

PERFOMANCE. Isnt that bad, but i will not recommend to play with less than 8 GB of RAM. 12 is optimal, 16 is better. Graphics can be set from "original Doom launched on pregnancy test" to "even Hubble telescope makes worse pictures of space". Game requires mid pc, and can kinda run on my 9 year old laptop with 4GB ram and old ass intel integrated graphics. Nowadays i play on mid-high laptop with decent AMD processor and 16GB RAM, GTX1650. Having no problems on slightly below high graphics settings.

SUMMARY. This game is a great way to spend time with both your friends and on your own. It is a musthave for those who love space and building. One playthrough can last for hundreds of hours, and you wont notice how they will go by. It has limitless potential for people who loves space battles with big ships and/or for those, who like to create capital spaceships. Totally worth a price and your time.

It feels like Far Cry 5, plays like Far Cry 5, looks like Far Cry 5, but it lacks some core Far Cry 5 features that brings actual joy in that game. This one, it is alll weird stealth with robots that you can barely see in bushes, but they see you nicely. And shoot nicely. They move fast and can pack a punch, and there are usually 3-5 of them, all shooting, running chaotically around the player. Thats why i said that it lacks Far Cry 5 features: if the robots were highlighted once you look at them directly, this will turn from weird stealth eye hurting game of "find a robot to shoot" into truly enjoyable and fun experience of kicking robotic invaders in their shiny metallic asses. For now, it is a great game if you either want to become irl military sniper or want to get rid of your eyes. For anything other - i'd suggest to rather buy Far Cry 5 or 6

Nearly 80 hours of gathering nanites and searching for the best upgrades gone. All i did was improve my tech for more comfortable exploration, and now if i update and open that save, its all gone. Not gonna do that tho, heck this game and how devs threat their veteran gamers

(Summary for lazy ppl is at the bottom)

SETTING. The game takes place on some alien planet, that is similar to Earth.

STORY. You are big corporation worker. You are dropped down on alien planet with only one goal: supply parts for project "Assembly". Thats it, thats the whole story. Simple and understandable

GAMEPLAY. First thing you see is space in your small window. You are falling on planet in small landing pod. This is the beginning of the game where you learn during short briefing that you are FICSIT corporation worker and your goal is to build efficient factory. Upon landing the game truly begins. During tutorial you learn basic mechanics and construct your Hub, the core of your big planetary factory. After that - the world is yours. Main thing you can do is of course building. Building here is easy and intuitive, all controls are on screen. Upon progressing more into the game, more buildable tech is unlocked.

The main and only way of progressing is to sacrifice some of goods your factory produces to project "Assembly". There are two ways you should send resources:
1 Using the spaceshuttle. In your hub you load up the shuttle with goods, and it is flying off to orbit. This way you can unlock new buildable tech in currently available tiers.
2 Using space evevator. This chunky boi sends special parts, in order to produce which you are required to unlock some of that new higher tier tech by sending things using spaceshuttle. When you send resources, you unlock 2 new tiers and next stage of project "Assebly" that requires more advanced parts.

Thats the whole satisfactory aspect of the game: you are building factories that produce low tier parts and then use them to produce higher tier items. Then you use those to produce even higher tier resources, and this scales up quickly. At the endgame, you will construct huge factories, that are made out of smaller factories, that are also made out of smaller factories. And it all is turning raw ore and liquids into tech components.

Apart from building, you will do a lot of exploring and fighting too. You need to explore to find new nodes of resources. They are infinite, but one provides limited amount of ore per minute. And you need a lot of ore per minute. Every node is guarded by local hostile fauna. Also there are a lot of interesting items you can find while exploring such as energy slimes, that you can research and use to speed up your factory, or crashed spaceshuttles, that gives you hard drives. Hard drives can be researched to learn new alternative recipes for parts.

Also, it is worth mentioning that map is huge, but isnt procedurally generated in any way. The map is same for everyone. But the game doesnt require procedurally generated world because of its setting and the way it works.

DIFFICULTY There are no difficulty settings, the difficulty is regulated by the place where you are dropped on that map. First one is easy because there are plenty of resource nodes and flat area to build. Last one is hard because there are high dunes in the way and poor rare resource nodes.

Those who buy this game should also be aware of the fact that you need to be actually smart to play this game on 100% efficiency. Understanding basic math is a requirement.

SOUNDTRACK. Isnt something special. The sounds are solid and fitting.

PERFOMANCE. Bad. You need decent PC to run this game. You cant feel it when you only starting, but 100 hours into the game you can start to notice some lag due to how big your factory became.

GRAPHICS. Varies from average to really good, but nothing special.

BUGS. Not many, but there still are some. There are no fatal bugs like accidental crashes (unless you are on experimantal branch of the game). But there are some visual and entity bugs that cant ruin your playing experience, but still are a reminder that the game is still in beta version.

MULTIPLAYER. The game can be shared with friends, which makes hours spent in it much more fun and efficient. I would say this is a great game to spend your time in with friends.

SUMMARY. This is a great game to play both alone and with friends. It is focused on building, researching and exploring the map. The satisfactory effect is that you need to make small things to do bigger things, and make bigger things to make the biggest things. It is satisfying to see the results of your hard work. But be aware of the fact that you will need to have good PC to play and to be smart human being not to get lost and overwhelmed by progressively increasing complexity of the game.
