An action RPG that got overshadowed by Skyrim at launch? Yep. An incredible game that absolutely deserves your attention? Also, yep. Dragon’s Dogma is one of those hidden gems you discover late, but it sticks with you forever.

The Great
  • The combat is insanely fun. Climbing onto a griffin mid-flight or smashing an ogre never gets old.
  • The story vibes are a perfect blend of Berserk, Camelot, and dark fantasy. If that’s your thing, this game hooks you instantly.
  • The Pawn system is super unique. Creating your own sidekick and seeing how others use them is amazing.
  • Replayability for days. You’ll always find something new, from hidden quest details to experimenting with different builds.
  • The art style. Sure, it’s from 2011, but it’s got this awesome mix of Dark Souls and dark anime aesthetics that works so well.

The Not so Great

  • Side quests sometimes feel more like a punishment than a reward. Escorting NPCs from one point to another is dull, no matter the fantasy setting.
  • Bitterblack Isle is awesome, but it can turn into a grindfest if you’re not into repeating stuff.
  • Farming for good gear is very real. Depending on your patience, this can get frustrating fast.

Dragon’s Dogma feels like that quiet friend who doesn’t seek attention but ends up changing your life when you give them a chance. Is it perfect? No, but the things it does well are so good you can overlook the flaws. If you love dark fantasy, epic combat, and a true sense of adventure, this one’s for you.

Palworld is a fever dream of a game. It throws adorable monster-catching mechanics into a world of dark humor, automation, and survival chaos. It’s quirky, unsettling, and somehow still charming.

The Great
  • The monster designs are obviously Pokémon-inspired but bring enough charm to stand on their own. They’re oddly cute despite the madness around them.
  • The audacity of tackling themes like forced labor and even cannibalism. It’s dark, but it’s so over-the-top it feels like the game is in on the joke.
  • The world is bright and colorful, making every corner feel like it’s bursting with personality. You can’t help but want to explore.

The Not so Great?
  • The idea of enslaving or arming monsters is funny at first but gets uncomfortable quickly. The message is murky and feels hard to digest.
  • Repetition kicks in too fast. Once the novelty wears off, the gameplay can feel like you’re going through the motions.
  • Playing solo feels empty—like the world is big but missing life. It reminds me of survival games where you notice the loneliness when no one else is around.

Palworld doesn’t always hit the mark, but it’s impossible to deny how bold and unique it is. If you’re in the mood for something unapologetically weird and chaotic, give it a shot.

This isn’t just a survival game; it’s a simulation of desperation, perseverance, and inevitable failure. Project Zomboid is about the journey, not the destination. You’re going to die. But how you live before that? That’s where the magic happens.

It feels like a meticulously crafted diorama of chaos. Every tiny detail matters. Managing your hunger, crafting weapons, keeping your morale high—it’s all on you. It’s brutal, but the satisfaction of mastering its systems makes every failure worth it.

The Great
  • Incredible micro-management, every decision matters. From food to weapons, everything has a real impact on survival.
  • Steep learning curve that rewards you with an incredible sense of achievement once you master the mechanics.
  • The modding community keeps the game fresh with new ideas, maps, and tools constantly.
  • Brutal survival realism, where small actions have long-term consequences.
  • The world moves on, with or without the player: zombies roam, break things, and nature takes its course, creating a constant sense of progression.

The Not so Great

  • The difficulty might feel overwhelming for newcomers, with a lot of learning lines that require patience.
  • Being so huge, some players may feel lost.
  • The single player mode feels empty due to the lack of NPCs, despite the efforts of radios, TVs, and environmental sounds trying to fill the void.
  • Although the variety of activities is amazing, players might experience monotony if they don't set their own goals within the game.

Project Zomboid is less of a game and more of an experience. It’s not for everyone, but if you’re into hardcore survival and can handle the constant threat of death, it’s an absolute gem.

Dragon Quest Builders 2 blends the charm of the Dragon Quest series with creative sandbox gameplay. As someone who first hesitated with the original Builders, I was pleasantly surprised by how captivating this sequel turned out to be.

The story adds a fun, whimsical layer to the game, keeping you engaged with delightful characters who help you rebuild the land. Fans of Akira Toriyama’s iconic art style will adore the design of the world and creatures.

The Great
  • The world and mob design are gorgeous, perfect for fans of Akira Toriyama and Dragon Ball vibes.
  • The story is lighthearted and fun, pulling you into the world of Dragon Quest effortlessly.
  • Gameplay strikes a balance between exploration, combat, and building—there is always something to do.
  • Co-op play adds another level of creativity and fun when building with friends.

The Not so Great
  • The music, while charming, can become repetitive during longer play sessions.
  • The story holds your hand too tightly, limiting free-building opportunities until much later in the game.
  • By the time free building becomes available, the guided experience might leave players feeling drained.

FFIX is one of those games that stays with you. While many people swear by FFVII, for me, this is the perfect closure to the classic Final Fantasy era. The mix of semi-medieval fantasy with steampunk elements and a skill system based on the original FF jobs is pure magic.

The story is incredibly well-crafted. Each character has their own journey that ties perfectly into the bigger picture. And even though the archetypes are recognizable, they feel fresh and deep in their own way.

The Great
  • The blend of medieval fantasy and steampunk in the world.
  • The skill system, based on the original FF jobs system adds a strategic layer.
  • The story is solid, with characters who grow and feel integral to the whole.
  • The soundtrack... words can't describe, it's precious.

The Not so Great
  • Turn-based combat might feel a bit slow for those coming from more fast-paced RPGs.
  • If you're new to RPGs, the structure might be a bit jarring at first.

FF9 is the perfect tribute to the classics. It has everything fans of the genre look for: a solid story, lovable characters, and timeless gameplay.

Rimworld is chaos, plain and simple. One minute you’re minding your business, building your base, and the next, your colony is on fire because the AI decided it was time for a raid and a blight at the same time.

The best part? It somehow all works. The world feels alive, with random events and weird little stories that make every colony unique. Mods make it even crazier—want dinosaurs? Alien invasions? You have it.

The Great
  • Watching your colony go from disaster to functional (or not).
  • The mix of sci-fi, medieval vibes, and eldritch weirdness.
  • The modding community is insane in the best way.
The Not so Great
  • The UI is... a lot, sometimes. Mods help, but without them, it can get clunky.
  • On easier settings, the game can get a bit predictable over time.

Yeah, it’s a bit pricey, but honestly? Worth every cent for the stories it creates.

Silent Hill 2 was one of those games that marked me on the PS2, and honestly, at first, I wasn’t sure Bloober Team could do it justice with a remake. But I was wrong.

This remake keeps the essence of the original, with a nearly untouched script and level design changes that improve the experience, making Silent Hill’s town even more terrifying. The music and sound effects are flawless, and the atmosphere is just as oppressive as ever.

The Great
  • The essence of the original game remains intact.
  • The level redesign is stunning, even for those of us who know the game.
  • The music and sound effects are fantastic, immersing you in the terror.
The Not so Great
  • Could be better optimized, though I know they’re working on it.

Bloober Team has done an excellent job, modernizing the classic without losing its soul. If you’re a fan of Silent Hill 2, this remake is a must.

It's hard to imagine a game that could top Baldur's Gate 3—there's so much to love about it. From the incredible attention to detail in the setting, which nails the lore from previous games (and DnD overall), to the whimsical yet modern art style, this is a game that feels alive. The music is memorable, the gameplay solid, and it just feels like it does almost everything right.

I'm currently on my second playthrough, and I still feel like I’ve barely scratched the surface. There’s so much more to discover, so many different paths to explore, and I’m sure I haven’t even seen half of the stories this game has to offer.

The Great
  • The setting and lore are spot on. If you’ve played the previous games, you’ll feel right at home.
  • The art style strikes the perfect balance between fantasy and modern design, with an attention to detail that makes the world feel immersive.
  • The music? Beautiful and unforgettable. It sticks with you even after the game’s over.
  • The gameplay is top-notch, offering a mix of tactical combat, exploration, and narrative that keeps you engaged for hours.
The Not so Great?
  • While the game is practically infinite in terms of replayability, some stories feel like they don't fully connect or leave you wanting more. Maybe it's just me, but some plot threads seem to hang in the air.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is a near-perfect RPG, and it’s hard to imagine a game matching it anytime soon. The attention to detail in everything from the world-building to the gameplay is remarkable. If you love RPGs, this is a must-play.

Cyberpunk 2077 had a rocky start, but once the dust settled, it became clear that it was always a game with massive potential. The delays were necessary, and now, it’s a much better experience than initially offered. Despite the disappointing launch, the game was never truly bad; it just wasn’t all it promised to be.

The Great

  • The visuals are nothing short of stunning. Despite the early issues, the game boasts an artistic quality that’s hard to beat. It perfectly translates the tabletop RPG’s aesthetics into a first-person action RPG.
  • The world-building and atmosphere are top-notch. The characters are memorable, and the story is one of the best I’ve experienced in an videogame.
  • The soundtrack is exceptional. Especially with *Phantom Liberty*, the music in the game reaches new heights.
  • Cyberpunk 2077 is a true love letter to fans of the genre, filled with references across all forms of media. Fun, ironic, and let’s not forget—Keanu Reeves plays a character you’ll love for years.

The NOT so Great

  • The disastrous launch left a bad impression and did the game a disservice. The initial experience was marred by glitches, bugs, and gameplay issues that were ultimately fixed, but the damage was done.
  • While the in-game music is a masterpiece, the radio station tracks are forgettable and lack the punch of the main soundtrack.
  • Glitches and technical problems, which have been addressed now, were a major detractor at launch. It felt like the gameplay experience was bogged down by these issues.

Cyberpunk 2077 is a memorable experience with unforgettable moments, even if its early days were marred by technical issues. It’s a game that’s grown and improved, and I’m excited for what’s next—especially with the upcoming sequel.

Fallout 4 is a great game in its own right, but it doesn't quite reach the heights of its predecessors. While it may not be the best Fallout, it's still a fantastic action-RPG that delivers a solid experience.

The Great

  • Even though it’s not the best Fallout, it's still an amazing RPG with balanced action and RPG mechanics.
  • The visuals hold up well, especially considering the game came out in 2015. The recreation of Boston, excluding the DLC regions, is stunning.
  • The settlement building system is one of the most fun and addictive parts of the game. I spent hours just constructing and upgrading settlements.
  • The atmosphere in the game is top-notch. The music, sound design, character and enemy design are all great, and mods can enhance this even further.
  • The open world is meticulously crafted, with attention to detail and a truly immersive post-apocalyptic vibe.

The Not so Great

  • The dialogue system is limited compared to New Vegas, offering less depth in character development and choice.
  • The skills system, different from the previous Fallouts, starts to break down as your character levels up indefinitely, distorting the difficulty curve and affecting the experience.
  • The Survival Mode feels broken compared to New Vegas. While it has nice details like illnesses and conditions, it becomes a tedious cycle of healing, eating, and medicating, turning the gameplay into a repetitive grind.

is a great game that still captures the essence of the Fallout series. However, it has some missed opportunities that could have made it legendary. Despite its flaws, it’s still a highly enjoyable RPG that I recommend to fans of the series and newcomers alike.
