Very addicting with tons of variety, and it runs like a charm on my pc that barely meets minimum required specs.

For me, when I describe a game as perfect, I don't mean that it has no flaws, because even the best games ever have flaws. What I mean when I say a game is perfect is that in the moment, when you're playing or looking back at your memories of it, those flaws (however big or small they are) become insignificant to you. They become a footnote or cease to exist entirely, and you're left with what the game really is. The perfection of an art form.

Fantastic game, but the latter half of it throws out persuasion as an option to get through areas and is full of unfinished combat sections. Also the game's chance at success was sabotaged and the devs consequently shut down by Activision, meaning the people who made it don't make a dime off of purchasing it. Pirate it if you can and make sure to download the unofficial patch to make it playable on modern systems. The version of this game on GoG comes with the patch preinstalled however if you'd prefer that(the patch only takes 30 seconds to install otherwise tho.)

I really like this game. It feels snappy and rewarding to play while also being pretty difficult. The music and writing in this game are also very solid. The problem with this game though is the same problem that the Hotline Miami games have, it goes nowhere. The story is presented in a very interesting way and keeps you engaged all the while, but when time comes to stick a landing it feels like they just stop trying and caring. At least Hotline Miami has an ending, this game just hits you with a to be continued and the free dlc that I assume will continue the story has no solid release date. I also feel that level design wise, this game doesn't last long enough to really get going and show you what it's truly capable of.

Neat little adaptation of a Lovecraft short story. It had some nice visuals and is very faithful to the original story. I liked all the pieces of trivia hidden throughout the game, there was even a bit of stuff I didn't know already in that trivia which is fun.

Fun game to play with a couple friends, decent time waster if you're playing alone.

All the levels are randomly generated and chopped up into several loading zones. So while there are a couple short cuts to earlier parts of levels, they never give you a sense of "aha!" like in any of the Souls games and every sub area doesn't feel like it fits with the rest of the world.

About half of the boss fights in the game are reskinned and buffed up versions of standard enemies, and every boss fight is less of a carefully constructed challenge and more of the developers overloading you things to keep track of that will kill you quickly. The amount of enemies in boss arenas and how much damage they do scale up with the amount of players in your group, which results in playing alone being fairly easy and playing in a full group ends up becoming super hectic with tons of enemies that deal close to half your health in a single attack. I'm not personally a fan of this approach, but there are a couple of fights where I had a lot of fun dodging and shooting around a ton of low-health, high-damage enemies.

One of my favorite games of all time now upgraded with greatly improved gameplay to now match the genius of the original's story, world, and music. New story sections and a rearranged soundtrack were also added. Some tracks are better than the original, some are worse, but all are still great. I'm also not a huge fan of some of the new character models, but they luckily don't distract from the game's still amazing writing.

The only thing holding the game back from being perfect are the side quests. All of them are just boring fetch/kill quests, and even the quests I found worthwhile in the writing department aren't exempt from that.

Automata has a notorious pc port that has only recently gotten a patch announced, luckily this port is much better, but it's not perfect. Game speed for all version is tied to framerate and optimized for 60fps, despite this, there's no framerate limiter. Instead, the game uses its vsync, which can't be turned off, to lock the fps which doesn't work on monitors with higher refresh rates. Both of these problems are easily fixed with mods, or you can just lock your fps to 60 in the nvidia control panel. Another issue I've noticed is that the mouse cursor doesn't disappear when using a controller and occasionally recenters itself. People have said it happens at random, but in my experience the cursor only ever recenters itself when I tab out of the game and back in, and then I can just move the mouse to my other monitor so it hasn't been a problem on my end.

In any case, fantastic game with a playtime of around 30-35 hours if you go for all endings while doing most of the side content. If you ignore the side content (and I don't blame you if you do) I imagine that playtime can be cut down to 20-25 hours, which is very short when compared to a lot of other jrpgs (although I disagree with calling this game a jrpg) and a perfect amount of playtime that doesn't overstay its welcome. Buy this game at any price.
