I'm a fan of the Devil Macy Cry series, I even played the god awful reboot and I can easily recommend this as the best game in the series.

This is hands down the best combat i've ever played in a game, it's a joy to play. DMC's always had fantastic gameplay but the games normally are bogged down by some annoying enemies or terrible level design gimmicks (I'm looking at you, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ DMC 4 forest teleporting ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥).

5 does away with all of that, levels are very linear now and are focused totally on encounters, while a little more variety would help, they're consistently good throughout the whole thing.

Also the enemy design is stellar, they aren't the most difficult of the franchise but they're all really solid and don't feel like a chore to plow through like 4's Blitz or 3's angels which could go out of bounds in the levels for a really long time and bog down the encounters.

Honestly, I can't recommend this game enough, it's a fantastic entry to the series and even if there're some mechanic stuff lost between 4 and 5 like jump cancel's momentum. It's still the most accesible and consistently good entry in the series so if you're even remotely interested in this franchise, this is a good place to start.
