It's Rogue, a game so good and influential that it spawned many clones, and a whole genre- now on Steam. Given NetHack is one of my favourite games of all time, I couldn't *not* buy Rogue. It runs out of the box with no tweaks in Proton on Linux, and scales to fit the screen very well. I see myself having more hours in the Steam version that I do on the other ones, in quick time. It's also very cheap, which is a bonus. +1

Counter-Strike 2 needs more maps, notably those missing that were a part of the previous game(s). It also needs performance improvements.

-1, not recommended. This Steam version made by a 3rd party has terrible crashing+freezing issues, stays open in the background when closed sometimes, and doesn't provide much over real NetHack. Real official NetHack can be downloaded for free, and is open-source, with a quick web-search.

+1, recommended, my second-favourite way to play NetHack (the first being in a Linux Terminal on hardfought), I wouldn't have gotten into NetHack proper if it wasn't for this game- it's NetHack, with mouse support, graphics, and music. Be sure to play the 3.6.0 Beta from the play menu, it's better.- oh, and get the free DLC if you like Slash'EM

But yes, this Steam version of NetHack is made by a 3rd party, while it provides a lot over real NetHack (while also having some things in it be slightly worse), real official NetHack can be downloaded for free, and is open-source, with a quick web-search, in case you wish to try that too, or instead.

A good game, though, bring a reasonable keyboard with good n-key rollover.

I just wiped my Isaac save, its cloud save, and all its achievements (using SamRewritten for Linux), so I have an entirely fresh start. I'm going for Platinum God, from scratch. Wish me luck!
