Night in the Woods is one of my favorite games of all time - and I've played a lot of games. It has a special charm that's impossible to explain: it makes you feel melancholy, makes you soft smile, and has you laughing aloud by yourself at the screen. The way the characters speak (it feels like you're talking to your real friends IRL), the decay of rural rust belt America (the great sadness when a boom town goes bust), the mysterious threads that you unravel slowly (it will... disarm you), the daily monotony of real life (seeing the townsfolk complain about their jobs feels close to home) - I could talk about this game for hours. The soundtrack is so amazing that it made my Spotify top songs one year (great background music during work). I've played the game through so many times that it's become an annual ritual (usually around Halloween) that I look forward to every time. The art style is beautiful and engaging - perfect for any console (originally played on Switch - felt amazing there).

If you've ever felt like a lost 20-something trying to find your purpose and feel like a total ♥♥♥♥-up, this game has everything and more; it's a masterpiece, and I'll be thinking about it until I give my last breath. I've recommended it to every person who will listen to me, year after year. Part of me will always live in Possum Springs - see you there!
