With the turn based mode recently added, the game is way more fun. I'm only into the first parts of the world, but it seems to be a really solid title with lots of depth.

For free you get:

Great gameplay, diverse character builds, visually stunning, well written and acted storylines.

Group matchmaking for PvE, PvP, and the best PvP/PvE hybrid game mode ever devised in gambit.

A massive amount of story, progression and exploration, the DLC purchases are also something you can decide on later, and offer a lot for the price, but aren't needed to compete or to contribute to the available content.

If you like to laugh, it's a fun story with a good cast of characters.

I havent played all the way through, but take the time, read everything and enjoy the jokes, Humor in games is tough to pull off, and this game manages to create some pretty great moments in an old school RPG format,

This is pretty much a new genre, taking elements of base building and territory control and mixing it with exploration and an open world rpg. The controls, driving and minimap are straight out of a grand thef auto game. There is a pretty deep layer of base building, and you start to build a small community up that you can use to accomplish tasks in the area.
There really hasn't been a game like this yet, and like any new genre there are rough edges.
Like other really well made indie games however, once you get immersed in the world, characters and new gameplay ideas, the rough edges fade away.
For the price you can't really complain, the DLC also adds in escalating difficulty in a sandbox mode, adding much more tension as you progress.

Has a couple of bugs that will force you to restart game, but still pretty bad ass, once they get a few patches and a solid DLC to make the AI more varied it's going to be a must have game.

Make sure you turn on the autosave feature, then if you hit a bug you can pretty much relaunch and be around 2 mins from where you were, it's a pain but the game is so fun and it happens so rarely that it's not a deal breaker.
