The game is awesome, but having been a fallout fan since 3. Fallout 76 is very different from the others, if you played the game at launch and didn't like it, don't expect the Wastelanders update to change how it plays. After the update the game is still plays exactly the same. I enjoy the game very much but for a fallout fan its the Fallout Minecraft of the main series, if that makes any sense to any of you.

It's not 4 or 3 so don't go in thinking it's one of them and that it will have a great story fleshed out for you off the bat, it's more like here whats going on, here what you can do, do what you wish.
Although the Wastelanders update added a story and npcs to the game and so far its amazing, from dialog to the way npcs react in combat to new weapons and armor to collect as well as new enemies, you are still limited from doing stuff. The actual purpose of the base game in general, is still the same.

You are suppose to build your own unique camp with rare items and a bunch of other stuff like weapons, armor, food, and much more and be able to trade and just communicate with others online. Compared to how the previous installments are about being Alone in a vast open world and to discover a lot of lore and to finish the great story with great npcs. 76 is more about you making your own story and finding out what happened to certain things yourself, there is a lot of reading with notes and tapes left behind before the bombs. And now with the Wastelanders update they added much more stuff to mess with along with npcs to talk to although in my opinion it was no different from when it used to have Robot npcs with event quests and minor story quests roam the waste before the update, it is nice to see other human npcs from time to time.

I'd only recommend the game if you love games like Boundless or Minecraft and want those features in a fallout universe. Otherwise you are better on sticking with Fallout 1-4 and playing them for the story and mods. That's my review for the game on how it is of right now, we all dont know how long they plan on actually supporting this game after all the backlash its been having for years.

Feeling like Bob the Builder and like the fallout universe? this game is for you.
