I WOULD'VE recommended this game, but there is just one mechanic that kills the experience completely. For some reason the devs thought it would've been a GENIUS idea to set a limit to how many planets u can colonize, and with how quick your colonies overpopulate? Good luck running a successful empire with those restrictions lol.

The game is quite rough around the edges. Optimization is rough, AI and enemies can be a bit wonky and the game in general lacks polish. And despite all of that I think its a relatively fine game, I like the the gameplay loop conceptually it just needs to be polished more and it could potentially be a really good game.

Despite it's shallow gameplay loop and repetetiveness Space Marine manages to be a really fun game. The gunplay and melee combat feel just satisfying enough to where the game doesn't become a slog to play thru, tho I will say that the shield system is awful and can go ♥♥♥♥ itself. It's so annoying, fighting enemies with melee till suddenly you have to run away into a corner and just wait, n wait, n wait, n wait till your damn shield system finally recharges so you can continue to have fun. The story also manages to be good enough to be interesting, even for someone who is illiterate about Warhammer like me.

Overall I'd give Space Marine a 7/10, it's not great, but it is a really fun time.

Also if you are looking to play Space Marine 2, play this game before that.

The game is very basic, simple and lacks any bit of depth. The controls aren't great, the combat feels awkard and stiff, the enemies aren't fun to fight against and the aesthetic is just bleh. (Also achievements seem to be broken)

A really fun reimagined take on the old S&S flash game.

Pros:
+ the gameplay loop when fighting enemies is quite fun, it offers way more depth then your average turn based RPG,
+ grinding out your stats is very addictive thanks to the well designed training camp mini games,
+ the art style is really nice and the environments look great,
+ the game has different side activities to offer like fishing and later on a bloody palace type gamemode, which are quite fun to engage with,
+ the main hub area while a bit simple has a lot of charm to it,
+ the game has a good sense of progression, which makes you feel like you are improving constantly,
+ the music is pretty good, tho I wish there was more variety.

Cons:
- the writing is kinda terrible. All characters are written like cringy, "super quirky" millennials that try waaay too hard to be funny. Every time the game attempts at humour it fails, the delivery sucks and the jokes are very cliche and overdone. And any time a character tries to be intimitading they look extremely goofy instead. The old puppet that helps you train in the camp is likely the only decently written character in the whole game. And the plot itself is so simple and shallow it's a waste even talking about it,
- the museum, (one of the main areas in the hub) has a function where if u invest into it you over time recieve a certain amount of money from it, ON TOP OF THAT there is a little mushroom guy in the museum that gives you certain rewards by giving it clovers (which can be earned either while on expeditions or while training in the camp). Those rewards range from, stat boosts, money and exp (which in turn gives you more stat boosts). All of this results in quite a big power creep, where you feel like you lvl up TOO FAST and it does reflect badly when going on expeditions, but in fairness the core gameplay loop does make the issue a little more bearable then it otherwise would be, since there is a decent amount of skill involved when batteling enemies,
- the endgame is pretty underwhelming, aside from the before mentioned bloody palace mode there is really not a whole lot for you to do after you beat the game. No new armor pieces to unlock or weapons, just bloody palace and that's it.

Overall, it's a fun game that is definitely worth checking out, a solid 8/9 hour RPG that has a lot going for it.

8.0/10

This is without a shadow of a doubt THE BEST looter shooter you're ever gonna find as well as one of the best FPS games of all time, and it only gets better with age.

It really has it all;
- Super engaging gameplay loop, the skill trees give you tons of freedom with how you wanna play
- Actual good story and writing (which cannot be said for it's younger brother Borderlands 3)
- Fantastic art style and awesome music
- Very diverse sets of locations each one more unique then the last one. One moment you're walking around a bunch of icebergs and then the next you're gunning down bandits in a wild west type of town.

Forget Borderlands 3 or Destiny THIS is how you do a kickass lootershooter.

(Zero the GOAT btw)
