Play Left4Dead, Vermintide 2, or Darktide instead. I felt like this game had potential, but the combat, enemies, and cards feel unpolished and arcadey in not a good way.

Game is cheap and basic, music isn't anything special, but it's not terrible. I like the artstyle, controls feel alright. A lot of the dialogue is on the comedic side and fun. I'd recommend it, gave me polished internet browser flash game vibes.
I'd say to play on easy mode to start (infinite lives). Getting 1shot by everything (until you get upgrades) and having to play through THE ENTIRE SLOW ASS tutorial start was a killer.

2024 update: game got better again.
-I gotta say, I love this game, but idk if I would suggest it to a new player.
-Since mid 2021 much the game design has continued to worsen. I agree with many of the things the devs are trying to accomplish, but they are doing such a bad job with it and actively not communicating with the playerbase like they have in the past. (they started getting better about this again)
-The recent 2022 patch has sparsed out much of the loot and transferred it to unfun RNG loot pinatas. (THIS WAS REVERTED FOR THE MOST PART)
-They are balancing the game around hundreds of hours of grind when the main game leagues resets every 3 months. (this is still true, lol)
-Last quarterly reset EVERY one of my friends stopped playing after a few days, when normally we play for weeks after the new patch/reset. (friends are playing some of the leagues again)
-1/3 the time I have no idea what killed my char, 1/3 I know what did, but I don't understand why something should be stupidly strong, and the other third is I wasn't hyper focused on the game. (this is still true, DEATH RECAP PLZ)
Ritual league was fun, the base game of necropolis was good but the league wasn't great, settlers of kalgurr is pretty good.

Was expecting more fun demolishing sorta like katamari, but the levels are mostly bland and it's simple button mashing.

The setting and UI are put together well. But even after searching for a bit, I can't find out how to stop it from locking at 30fps which is what killed it for me.

It's finally 100% out. Big HL2 fan, and didn't play the OG HL. I played the mod back in 2012 and it was good, a little jittery at times, but the full release looks to have fixed any issues from before. I am having tons of fun. It still plays like an old fps, but the environments and pacing are fantastic. Game looks beautiful and I get over capped 300 fps constantly on it.

Attempts to emulate a GameboyColor type experience. Plays like a light zelda game with puzzly dungeons and very basic 2d combat. Gameplay is very easy, but unique enough to keep you playing. Has a harvest moon like interaction with NPCs and a very basic day/night cycle

I love the GBC era pixel artstyle. I'm a sucker for it and it's likely the only reason I looked at the game. Still have a bit more to go in the game, but steam wanted me to make a review for the badge.

Early Access Review
A fantastic transition to 3D.

A few bugs here and there, but the game feels really good.

This game was really fun to co-op, I remember the online multiplayer working great and it was a fun few nights.

I'm going off of playtime from early 2011 (now it's late 2017), but I only have fond memories of playing. Light ship customozation and getting unlocks while doing silly shooting and trying to keep up with the enviroment was a great time.

It was super simple and basic, but having "mixed" user reviews seems a little harsh for it.

I considered borrowing my friends XBox just to play through time game (it didn't release on PC for a while).

This game was everything I wanted it to be. Great puzzles, Fantastic atmosphere, The music is stunning. The pacing is fantastic.

The only downside was I felt a little fatigue when trying to 100% the game. But I didn't reach that feeling until 95+%. At that point it was less puzzle platforming/exploring and more decifering text and puzzles. I suppose the actual platforming was a tad easy, some people called it repetitive, but I was very happy with the results.

But wow, some of these puzzles are very creative. It was a nice combination of refreashing with a drizzle of semi-popular culture references.
