Oh, and as for the art style ... yeah, I love it. One of the big themes of the game world is that it's a futuristic, technologically advanced universe, but one that's living in the shadow of former greatness. The peak of human civilization was almost 3 centuries before the era that the game takes place in, and much technology and organization has been lost. The squabbling, petty factions are still fighting over the right to reconstruct and rule the old Star League ... which was never actually as good as it's painted to be in the present era, having some major corruption and other issues, under the shiny veneer. The rough, slightly dirty look of the game fits that theme perfectly.

Anyway, the big reason that I and many others are so rabid about this game is that we're fans of the old table-top game. Of all of the strategy games that have been based upon the game, this is the first one that's captured the real feel, style, and mechanics of the table-top. That grants a lot of leeway on the technical issues ... sometimes more slack than the developers should be given. I'm playing it and enjoying it, though, despite the issues.
