From a COMPLETE beginner's point of view, I'd say it's better to either find a youtube tutorial or get a friend to play with you the first few games!

Great game, only 3 hours in but is what it claims to be, a definitive edition of the classic AoE2

THUMBS DOWN because it's such a great game but took me well over 5 hours to understand the rationale behind it. Maybe im dumb af but seen lots of people confused about similar things on forums and youtube.

The game is deep as ♥♥♥♥, which would normally be a good thing (much story, such varied gameplay) but they forgot to explain how to use the system. so here's a few tips for you guys who buy this game:

- Get Swallow potion ASAP (it doesnt get fully consumed when all charges are used, just meditate 1 hour and get it back) for healing.
- Get Sun and Stars character trait ( 1 point in General tab) until you have enough food
- use Ignii spell on beehives for 2-5 honeycombs
- Loot the ♥♥♥♥ out of everything, only people that get Aggro'd by this are guards so most villages are good (sacks and chests, etc) to take from
- Focus on story line quests up until lvl 4-5 then you can go off and do side quests to find recipes for swords/armor/bombs/etc

Honestly, it's one of the best games I've ever played in my life... just really had a rough time adapting to it (and because i started on hardest difficulty)

Great stuff! immersive, creative, fun and different!

It's not perfect, but just try and go with the games flow... Think of it as a very immersive and action filled post-apocalyptic movie where you're the main guy

It downloads in less than a minute
Dirt cheap (if not, put on wishlist and wait)
Multiplayer fun (literally just skype and drink and shoot things)
and has greeeaaaat FPS

Game was ♥♥♥♥ when it came out.

Still ♥♥♥♥ now.

Good game, but some in-game things could be better, like the radius of different passive-bonus buildings isn't clear when making new buildings (prayer house, shrine, steam pylons). Also would like to see some more voice acting (or more interesting ways of getting the story across) aside from a large quantity of text.

+Not a good translation to german.
+Game breaking bug in second scenario (game thinks you have expeditions/scouts out exploring when you don't and forces you to lose, also even if you did, why would that make you fail the mission of preserving the seeds. It's as if you, devs, never actually played your own game)

Game itself is quite well made 8.5/10. It`s everything you`d want from a GTA game: Action, Guns, Mafia/drug running missions, cars, girls, etc.

But, honestly on PC it`s a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ shoddy port. Do yourself a favour and pirate it (and I never say this lightly) because the devs didnt put much effort into making it a good PC version of the game. Many little issues that I cant honestly put the effort into describing right now after looking at 3 different youtube videos on how to un-bug the final mission...

still worth it though, but be prepared to have little things accumulate and piss you off when the final mission bugs out 3x in a row
