It took me 10 years to finally beat it, but I did it. There are essentially two bottle necks. The Bell Gargoyles, which is what I originally got stuck on in 2014, and now in 2024 during the mid game Ornstein and Smough. If you can power through those the game is actually not too difficult once it clicks. The world is great and there were parts I was excited to see and go through. The hardest part is getting over the intimidation factor of it being labeled a difficult game. My final character time was about 35 hours and reached level 75. Def look up some guides for weapon upgrades and stuff, the game really needs some tutorials for what everything is and does. I really enjoyed this go around. Was inspired to pick it up after people talking about Elden Ring.

This was a weird one for me and did not get into it, although I did beat it. The "puzzles" are essentially find the correct spot to stand in and then look in the correct direction. I was ok with the combat, but defeating enemies feels the same throughout the entire game, not much variation. Was uninterested in the story and the constant "voices in your head" talking was not effective and got annoying. C tier game trying to pretend it's an A. Based on reviews I'm an outlier, just didn't click with me.

The "Overwhelmingly Positive" reviews and the gorgeous screenshots made me have to give this game a try. And I've got to say the game far exceeded what I thought I was getting into.

It took me about 10-11 hours to complete the game with a 100% in each area. If there was more content I'd absolutely be playing it. The game sucked me in and I ended up beating it in 2 sessions. I could NOT stop playing it.

The 2D platformer mechanics are wonderful. Back are the days of running and jumping platformers with wonderful puzzles (although sometimes seemingly confusing to figure out). The basic fighting mechanic is nothing special, but is not the main point of the game and does not distract from the core gameplay.

The ability power ups over the coarse of the game are thrilling to unlock and furthur your quest to get you closer to unlocking more by finding the hidden power ups through out the map. You'll begin to high jump, dash, double jump, glide, stomp, all while shooting an enemy. All these movement begin to become second nature.

Gamplay: excellent
Art Style: excellent
Music: excellent
Story: It's ok, but I found gameplay, art style, and the music to be the real winners here.

Everything from gameplay to how the game looks is wonderful.

Currently I only have about 4 hours of game time, but I can already tell that this is one of the best games I've played in a long time. The first hour of gameplay takes you on a roller coaster. It's been a while since a game has given me goose bumps and it's great to have that feeling surface again with MGS. It's a shame more games can't pull off what MGS can do. I've recently got into the thick of it, so to speak, and the gameplay is already awesome. The more open world idea is pretty damn cool. I've been using mouse and keyboard and it's really not that bad of a set up. I played Ground Zero with a 360 controller and it worked nice as well.

I was scared at first do to a crash on EVERY startup, but it was fixed first day with a beta patch!!! How awesome is that! I've got a pretty old setup and I can run it on medium to high settings with great frame rate. I'm running a phenom II 945 (6 years old) and a AMD 6970. Still going strong.

Awesome game guys! Can't wait to play some more of it... (This is the type of game that makes you want to take a day off of work to play)
