For a game that is in the genre of "go out, kill the thing, come back, make better gear, repeat", it does a very good job at it. There's enough content and nuance to not make it so repetitive and boring, while also giving a very nice challenge.

If you're a fan of these types of games I HIGHLY recommend it. Even if you're not, and afraid of it getting too repetitive, there's a lot more to do than it seems and the story at least keeps it from getting stale too often. As soon as it starts to get same-y... BOOM, new area, new monsters, new gear, new loot, with a pretty consistent and very satisfying combat system.

Overall I would definitely recommend it. 8/10

Fun game but couldn't bring myself to beat it

If steam had a neutral recommendation I would put it at that, but I can't in good conscious recommend it at it's price point, and for what you get from it compared to the first game.

What it does right

- It adds a lot of QOL changes that are very welcome that weren't in the first Subnautica like making base building much easier and broader, or adding the mineral tracker, to even smaller things like nice HUD changes that can help you out like the resource collection for crafting and what not.

- The actual design of the areas and detail is really nice and appealing. You can tell they put a lot of love into the modeling and decorating.

- Regardless of the map being smaller, it does feel more condensed which makes travel less of a pain, and easier for finding what you need.

- The themeing/setting of it being in the arctic is really cool and the weather provides a nice atmosphere to the game.

- It's still Subnautica. it's still an underwater survival game, and I did enjoy seeing new things and ideas the devs had for it.

What it does wrong

- The story is VERY subpar, which is sad to see as I followed this game very closely when it was still in early access. They changed the story drastically and even scrapped the whole thing at one point to re-do it. But even with all the changes, it still isn't really that good.

- It feels more like a scavenger hunt, that you can branch off and explore, rather than a whole world free at your fingertips. It's still open world, and there are no limitations like in the first game, but the fact that the game tells you what to do next instead of letting you figure it out on your own, takes away from the joy of being on an alien planet with no help but your PDA. I feel like I'm being taken on a tour rather than being a lone survivor.

- Of course, one of the biggest complaints is that the world is much smaller. roughly only 1/3rd the size of the original game, and a good third of Sub Zero is all on land which can be a pain navigating.

- The fish are not nearly as scary as the first game, and its very sad to see. There isn't much horror factor anymore. There are definitely some areas that can get tense, but not like the first game.

- Being on land can get very buggy and tedious. The freeze mechanic is annoying to deal with, and the Snowfox can get stuck on A LOT of things. I don't mind being on land, just make it more enjoyable. And it's a bummer because there's major story progression that takes place there, making you have to return frequently.

- The removal of the Cyclops really sucks. The new Seatruck is supposed to be a combination of the Seamoth and the Cyclops but I much prefer the Cyclops as I liked to use it as a mobile base. You can kind of do that with the Seatruck but it's very limited, and the more modules you put on, the slower and harder to drive it becomes.

Small Nitpicks

- They changed the voice of the new PDA system. It doesn't sound as "robot-y" as the first game. The dialogue for the PDA also doesn't feel as snarky as the first game did. It almost feels super monotone. And the PDA has a strong accent, which just felt weird to me. It didn't really feel like an AI, it just felt like an off-brand GLaDOS.

- The new AI companion AL-AN isn't very amusing, and honestly quite boring. A lot of his dialogue feels forced and un-intriguing.

- In early access they added a small camera for when you back-up the Seatruck, so you can see how close you are to hitting something, and that made it super nice navigating. It broke my heart seeing it removed for the final version because that was such a welcome change.

- They removed the stasis rifle... why? -.-

TL;DR 5/10

I enjoyed the game for sure, but over time I just couldn't bring myself to beat it. I honestly just got bored... I feel like I explored the game super quickly, and I never really had the passion or want to go back and play it. I just... stopped. Overall, It's a good game for sure, has some great moments and exploration was fun while it lasted, but it got stale very quickly. Was very disappointed with the final product. Wait for a sale if you want to try it.

Phew... All right, lets get started. I recently made a review on Planetary Annihilation, but ever since Titans came out I havn't made a true review. So, all money problems and angry customers aside, the game is FANTASTIC. Very quick and easy combat. Very easy to understand. Of course this game is a hardcore RTS, so your going to have to have a bit of skill and practice. The textures and planet designs are outstanding. Really love the way they made the game looks. Looks almost cartoony, and thats what makes it so fun.

Now a lot of people are saying that the game is very buggy and some people cant run it. Here's how it works...
If you're not a dumb ass and actually look at the computer requirements that they say you need, then that'll tell you that this game is a very VERY heavy game. You need quite the computer to run it even on low graphics. And the reason a lot of people have these problems is because their computer can't run it. So before you buy, check to see if you have the right requirements. This game used to be buggy but ever since it got out of beta and became a full game, I havn't noticed any "game breaking bugs" that some people claim.

So overall I give this game a 7/10
And thats pretty generous coming from me. People are just being too butthurt about a lot of things.
I'd like to see them try to create such an amazing game, and then i'll ♥♥♥♥ on it, to see how they feel.

I played this game back in the early stages of Alpha on my old account. Back then, it felt more like a Terraria; an exploration game where you can build, craft, mine, etc. with just a hint of an RPG aspect with quests, traveling to an endless amount planets, and all that good stuff involved. Didn't really have much going on for itself to be honest... but it still had potential.
I stopped playing shortly after that.

Then, recently about a year ago, I noticed they released the full game with all the new content added... and WOW! they actually came through and made a fun and different platformer exploration game. They added a WAY more in depth story between all the races, crazier planets, a hub world, mechs, post game content, BEAUTIFUL music, and a series of very beautiful landscaping and level design. The game exceeded all my expectations for what it could of been. If you truly put time and care into this game, you could spend a good 50+ hours before you even beat the main story.

Overall, It really brings a nice RPG aspect to these types of games that you don't really see a lot of. I recommend to anyone who has a knack for space exploration, building, and fun :)

Overall Ratings:
Music = 9.5/10
Graphics = 9/10
Gameplay = 8.7/10
Difficulty = FUN/10

Overall = 9/10

The only thing I wish, is that there was more content for me to enjoy! (Excluding mods) :-)
