This takes the amazing thematics, music and story of Persona 3 and mashes it with the graphics, quality of life enhancements and well-needed additions of Persona 5 to make what I think is the best remade JRPG in gaming. Step aside FF7R, the S.E.E.S. are here. Definitely recommend picking this up; besides P5R, this is another amazing entry-title to get into the Persona and SMT series! I pre-ordered the premium edition and have no regrets, whatsoever!

At launch, I had rated this as recommended, happy with what I got, despite the above average price, especially here in my home country of Australia. However, with the recent TEKKEN Shop addition and plans for a battle pass after launch without telling players, letting their refund conditions become voided, this feels like false advertising and I am really upset that none of these additions were just DLC. So if you want to pay more than $250 now (aussie dollars mind you) for everything, go for it.

This game has really, really good moments. The entirely new levels, themes, music, all of its presentation visually and audibly is good. But, the rest of this game is a hit or miss, which is why I'm reviewing it with a recommendation against immediately purchasing it. The physics, whilst somewhat like the classic Genesis games, are very weird in some places, and there were three things with this game I noticed were very apparent.

First of all, this game punishes you for wanting to go fast. Y'know, the fastest thing alive? Especially in the latter half of the zones, you won't know to slow down on some sections that require platforming or waiting for literal platforms to spawn. If you're going fast you'll plummet into a pit otherwise and it had me so aggravated. I was getting upset because all I wanted to do was blaze some stages. This becomes so much more annoying when you unlock the super form. You can't even do half of this game as it's designed for the normal characters in your super form. Especially if you've beaten the main story and are doing the new character's story, their super form is literally so big half of the things don't work.

Second of all, this game has very janky collision issues. I would reach something like a falling platform, and be standing on the far right of it, and if its rubbing against a wall with a gap in it, the game will treat it as if you were crushed, and you'll insta-die. You have to be so conscious on where the player is even standing to proceed and I hated that too. It got annoying quick, especially in the final zone where it happened SIX TIMES.

Third and last, this game is overall just hard. The bosses are ridiculous sometimes with their phases and attempting to hit them sometimes is impossible unless you're playing a careful game of precise buttons... or you've died 10 times and figure out that it does the same phases so you adapt. Especially that they rescinded the way bosses worked on the Genesis, you have to wait until after they stop flashing after you hit them and then some. You can only get one hit in per time they're attackable and its annoying. This game doesn't feel like Sonic in some spots and that makes me upset...

This game is not worth the $60 dollars, especially when you consider Mania was only half of what this game was in price. Also, EGS? Really? I'm not fussed because I already use Epic for other games but it feels cheap to have this in here for an online service. Very redundant and sort of turns me off of the Battle Mode entirely.

Sonic CD has always remained a weird one to me. I first played it on the ol' Sonic Gems Collection back on the GameCube back in the day, and it was honestly an experience. It's always remained a game that I don't necessarily go out of my way to touch. The levels are fun though, as well as that JP soundtrack!

Early Access Review
Great companion app to SteamVR. Been running alongside VR sessions always and hasn't compromised performance or frames unlike OVRToolkit which I had issues with. Am able to switch music without having to open my Desktop, and can have windows floating in-app with control. Overall, recommended.

No cap, this game is actually one of the best Sonic games I've played in years, besides Frontiers. How does a literal April Fools game stack better than half of the games in this franchise. I had so much fun with the story, the art direction was top-tier, I loved the music composition in the game. I was so engrossed in thinking that The Conductor was the villain. Can't believe it turned out to be the train (in some way). Please play this game, you will not regret it at all. Might replay to see if I missed anything.

Sonic Frontiers is a step in the right direction. This game is a near-perfect foundation of story structure, characters, settings and harmonics that each game in the future should work and improve on.

This was the first game in the series since Mania that I actually enjoyed. The first 3D Sonic game I've enjoyed since Generations. Forces was an absolute clusterfunk of "what". This game was a complete 180. I enjoyed every minute I played, I enjoyed the new formula they were playing with.

Looking forward to the updates coming in 2023! Hopefully this makes the game worth it even more than it is! P.S: Kellin Quinn doing the vocals for the first 3 titans absolutely made my days, I love Sleeping With Sirens.

Update edit: This game HAS reached peak. So much new content and its more than some bonuses! Island challenges, New Game+, Extreme Mode, Battle/Cyberspace rush modes, collectables, QoL fixes, as well as the legendary Final Horizon update adding a whole new alternate final island to the game! I loved this new ending. I absolutely screamed my heart out with the final boss, the I'm Here sung by Kellin Quinn, and the new Super Sonic forms! This has become my new favourite sonic game of all time, despite the few issues the final update might have with balancing.
