This DLC is just...terrible.
10 minutes long if you INCLUDE the boss fight.

- There is no story per se, just a minute worth of memories about Jack's previous partner. Doesn't have anything of significance though.
-New Blood Codes have terrible stats, abilities are weak as well.
-Purple hound veil is actually black, just like in the base game. Probably a bug.
-New weapons are just reskins, they don't have a unique model attached. Only 1h sword, 2h sword, 2h hammer. No spear or bayonet.
-New area looks and feels as bland as vanilla ice cream. Also, it's not very big.
-Boss fight is both cheesy and easy at the same time. He might kill you several times before you can even react, but once you know what to do, he won't be able to do anything.

Long story short, feel free to skip this dlc. It's super cheap in all aspects, but the price.

After giving this game another go, I just had to re-write my review. Also, this is my favourite game of all times, so I will be biased.

This game isn't really a souls like (only on a superficial level at best) and actually has some mechanics that will outright punish you if you try to play it like one.
Ninja Gaiden, Onimusha and (surprisingly) Diablo are much closer to this game.

Also, in terms of story this game is stuctured like a movie (show, don't tell), so I recommend you to read up on some japanese history, since Nioh features a lot of real life historical figures. You will get needed context and appreciate the story much more.

+Combat system.
It has much more in common with fighting games, since you can perform different combos or use different skills (which also require either a combination or a sequience of button presses). Variety is pretty big - there are parries, backstabs (in ninjutsu tree), grapple attacks (spear and sword have alternative, flashier versions), finishing blows and all kinds of utility moves (give Flying Monkey from the spear tree a go). You consume KI each time you swing your weapon, which you can also replenish by using Flux or even better - Stance Switch. Flux only restores the amount spent, while stance switching restores more than that. Mastering that will not only give you more KI, so you can continue being on the offense, but also open up the combat system to you. You also have 3 stances - High, Middle and Low. Both have different moves and properties. High stance - deals the most damage but is fairly slow, Middle - balanced between speed and damage and also the best for blocking. Low stance - fast, but the least damaging, also reduces KI cost of dodging by a lot. Also, I don't think the game ever explains it, but there is a rear damage bonus. Even if the enemy is aware of you, hitting him from behind will deal more damage. It's different from sneak attack, which can be performed on any unalerted enemy.

+Itemisation.
All items have stats. There are a lot sets as well, so you can build your character in many different ways. You have 2 slots for melee and ranged weapons, so you can combine your preferred weapons. Each weapon scales well with 1 stat and a bit less so with 2 more stats, so try to combine the weapons that scale with 2 stats. For example, Sword and Dual Swords both scale with Heart, Strength and Skill. These two weapons types have 3 stats in common which is ideal. They have different movesets though, so you can switch between them right in the middle of combo to start it with a sword and end with duals.
There are different armour types as well - Light, Medium and Heavy. Regardless of your choice, try to stay at B Agility (can check on your Status screen). If you go to C or D agility, your KI will disappear in a couple of weapon swings. Some armour sets provide different bonuses, like bonus damage from behind, bonus damage when dealing finishing blow, close combat damage, etc. Later in the game you will unlock the ability to get grace sets, which can be put on any armour type you want. Also, all items have different bonus traits that you can reforge / temper. Most commonly used on weapon are Change to attack (stat) - A, Close Combat Damage and Familiarity Bonus A. The rest usually depends on your weapon type. I like Parry Disabled (vs Guarding Enemy) - this stat is mistranslated, it actually allows you to perform combos against blocking enemies, preventing your weapon from bouncing back.

+Builds.
Aside from ability to pick your weapon, armour, set bonuses, you can also choose from different guardian spirits and clans (provide small bonuses). Which helps to create your own style. Want to be a ninja with kusarigama, throwing kunai and shuriken at enemies? Easy. Want to be a samurai in heavy armour with huge odachi that shows everyone you really mean buisness? Can do that too. Want to build a one dimensional cookie cutter build that uses nearly infinite living weapon and kills everyone in 1 hit? I mean you would miss on the beauty of Nioh's combat system, but sure, that is possible as well.

+Bosses.
They are a lot of fun. Especially once you understand the mechanics or how to approach them. But if you're getting frustrated, you can always help yourself with some onmyo, ninjitsu or other consumables. And the game even encourages that from time to time. For example, there is a boss that uses paralysis to kill you. But on the same level you can pick up some anti-paralytic needles.

+Replayability.
There is co-op, several difficulties diablo-style and abyss which is basically a boss rush with 999 levels and different modificators. And you can also respec / create new character and try out different builds.

+Tutorials.
Yes, there are tutorials and you really should give them a go. Also, you can always watch a small clip of a move before getting it when customising your skill loadout.

-Customisation.
You play as a fixed character. No character customisation, no face sculptor or anything like that. You can refashion your armour to look differently though. Also, you can get some polymorphs in the Hidden Teahouse if you want to play as existing character. Oh, you can change the hairstyle and beard. =\

-Repetitiveness.
A lot of side missions reuse existing levels. Same with enemies. Not a lot of variety there, sadly.

-Abyss.
It is pretty meh and poorly balanced. Everything one shots you and defense doesn't matter.

-Port quality.
You know how it always happens with japanese games that come to PC, right?

-Minor gripes.
Some weapons feel a bit underdeveloped. Axe suffers from some damage issues while Odachi is plain boring with its limited moveset. Both are viable though, don't get me wrong. There are no useless stats or weapon types in this game.

Also, as it often happens with japanese games, translation is pretty bad.

I have really mixed feelings about this game, but I'd still recommend to play it. Game isn't hard, but it's challenging at most times. Also, don't make a mistake - this is not an RPG, there are no complicated dialogues, roleplay or high level of world interaction. This is a 3rd person fighter. With builds, number crunching and broad selection of weapons.

+ Combat system. Hitting somebody with a sword feels incredibly satisfying. The sound it makes, blood splatters and overall the feeling of it is great indeed. I spent about 6 hours just farming Lothric Knights, because of how fun it was.
+ Gear viability and variety. You can use almost anything and be able to complete the game with it. Starting weapons can be as powerful, as boss loot.
+ Build variety. You can mix a lot of things and create different builds. You can specialize or be a hybrid and still be viable.
+ Character customisation is pretty damn good. Requires a bit of knowledge, but options are quite flexible. You just have to put some effort into it.
+ Animation is great. Be it emotes or combat actions.
+ RPG elements.
+ Sounds are awesome.

- As somebody who plays as a mage in every game possible, I'm sad to say that magic in this game is terrible. Not spells but the core mechanics of magic. Lack of passive FP regeneration might turn game into a boring slog. And reliance on flasks might get you stuck in the middle of the area. Always carry some melee weapon with you and avoid going pure caster if you're playing this game for the first time.
- Covenant system is garbage.
- Graphics. Well, game can look pretty sometimes, but most of the time it will look kinda dated. More like 2010 game, rather than 2016 game.
- Camera. Here we go. The most rage-inducing, horrible and disgusting thing in this game - camera. Often switches to weird angles, makes enemies transparent, obstructs your vision and stuff. Man, I can even explain how much I hate camera in this game. It's awful, it's a crime against humanity, screw it.
- UI. Honestly, having a health bar for half of your screen is kinda....eeeehh. I prefer minimalistic UI in games and this game made my OCD trigger during every combat encounter.
-Lack of aestetical consistiency. Some enemies, clothing and weapons look out of place. Some textures are pretty new, some textures look like they are ripped out of DS1, which looks jarring.
Main story is poorly written and delivered, albeit kinda interesting, sidestories are kinda vague and you'll fail like 90% of them during your first playthrough. Don't worry, this game has NG+. You will catch everything up later.

Game is deeply flawed, uninspired at times and borderline bad, but you will forgive it just for its melee combat.

Game is absolutely beautiful. I mean, in every way possible.
+ Good visuals. I played on ultra, despite having old rig and still there was no moment, when I suffered from stuttering or fps drops.
+ Well optimised, as stated before.
+ Story is not very original, but still interesting. And there is some sort of codex, where you can listen to dialogues, read lore, notes about guns and other stuff.
+Music. Oh, the sound is great. Perfect for slicing demons in half.
+A lot of new weapons. You can swap them around, change their properties (like adding elemental damage, life drain, chi drain, bonus damage against certain types of enemies, ammo conservation for firearms and more).
+Humour.
+Powers. At first there are small amount of cards, which represent your upgradable powers, but later you'll unlock a lot of new stuff.
+Highest difficulty is good for hardcore players. A lot of suffering. At least first 80% of the game. Later maxing certain upgrades will remove your main cause of death.
+Multiplayer. Finally!

-New "roommate" is kinda annoying and can't handle backtalking.

I'll be comparing it to Borderlands 2 and list cons and pros here.

+Lazers (but it's kinda clunky in use and not really interesting)
+Cryo weapons (fun)
+Glitched (DLC) mechanics is great and should be added/expanded in any way in Borderlands 3
+You got to see what happend before Jack went nuts and story shows you a different perspective.

-Game is short. About 8-10 hours short if you skip most side quests.
-Writing is so bad it hurts.
-Where's all the humour?! It's gone!
-Classes are so immesurably boring after Borderlands 2. After Krieg or Gage the only interesting dude here is...a robot. But it's mostly for coop play. So out of all characters only Wilhelm and Fragtrap are somewhat okay-ish in terms of skill trees. Athena is really well balanced, but boring in terms of gameplay. Also, she's like Roland, but female. I wanted to say "she has the same boring personality that Rolad possess", but you can't use "Roland" and "personality" in the same sentence.
-Season pass is a cash grab. Buy it only on discount.
-Unlockable skins and heads are quite bland. Default heads are the best.
-Also a couple of words about car controls and quests with time limits: they ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ suck ♥♥♥♥ ass ♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥ the ♥♥♥♥ who even came up with that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥♥ idea that it would be great??!

You should give this game a try, but only when it's on a discount. For a full price? NO.

P.S. Sums up my experience with Claptastic DLC: http://steamproxy.net/profiles/76561198003838639/screenshot/200804344080351901

Okay, after seeing the last DLC and considering this game is complete now, I absolutely can't recommend it.
Bethesda made a very controversal game. While they've improved the gunplay, visuals and some parts of gameplay (like adding settlement building and stuff), but they totaly forgot what fallout was about. It was an rpg with shooter elements, not the other way around. Now it's a mix of half-assed building, shooter and...no, I can't even say that there are rpg elements. You'll have to seek them with a microscope.
Dialogue system looks like in ME, but badly handled. You can't show your character using dialogue options. You can only say "yes", "no" (yes),sarcasm (not funny joke; also makes an NPC to repeat his question), and obscured "next" option. Doesn't matter if you're a bloodthisty raider, or a last hope of humanity - your answers are the same.
Building and settlement - I don't even know how to comment on this. System is messed up and doesn't allows anything really complicated or interesting and object limits only make it worse.
Most of quest are boring, repetitive and doesn't make you to even slightly care for caracters. Well, maybe Nick and Cait have more or less interesting backgrounds, but that's it.
Factions unappealing and sometimes don't make any sense. Also they don't explain a lot of important stuff and you have no way to understaing what are you fighting for.

Weapon upgrade system is good, but could be better. Most of time you just need to pick up upgrades at the bottom of the list and that's all. I wish more weapon were upgradeable in the same way as plasma pistol ( you can make a shotgun, a sniper rifle, an assault rifle or a plasmathrower out of it).

Power armour system is really cool. A lot of custumization options.
But that's pretty much it.
