Extremely fun experience, day 1 server issues are no surprise (Although, annoying) but they don't effect the overall experience, I've been playing solo and got to play a session with two friends and had a blast through all of them, the game IS more fun with others, even if you don't know said others! I hope once the servers settle I can use the SOS system to help out the battle for democracy far and wide!

A great game with a familiar and enjoyable gameplay loop, greatly supported by mods and its amazing performance on steamdeck and lower end systems! Sadly the new third party DRM that was added is not only hindering performance, but also neutered the mod scene and has made it so the game wont run on steam decks, Return to crapcoms form

This game has been a wonderful experience so far with fun engaging gameplay and a story that has sent me on a journey of emotional awakening, I didn't realize how much I missed the part of me eClips represented, but here we are! I can happily say in the 5 hours I initially played I went through an awakening experience, it was honestly lovely haha...

I want to preface this with advice for anyone that sees it: ng+ and ng++ have more content and story, keep going if you beat it.

I'll start with my positives, and then make some comments with the breaking point that a lot of players are quitting over (Two bosses that have a simple mechanic, that nobody seems to understand)

I absolutely love this game, but I have to say: Its the least Armored Core AC game you can buy, does that mean its bad? Absolutely not, just different! If you're coming here expecting ac2, ac4, move on go plug in your old playstation and relive those glory days, or play mechwarrior its a bit slower but it retains those elements you miss (well, i miss them too but, its worth it). Armored Core 6 leans into the power fantasy of "Unkillable mech pilot" you aren't bullet proof, you just cant get hit, even in heavy builds you're quick and nimble, capable of pulling g forces that would kill any ordinary human.

I was midway through writing this, the stuff after this I'd already written, emergency irl but i'll leave the review i think you get the message

A lot of negative reviews seem to be complaining about access to a mid mission outfitting screen (if you die after a checkpoint) but omit that it costs a MASSIVE chunk of your reward credits if you use it. Also in mission replay mode, changing loadout makes it so you cant get an S rank, you're encouraged to make builds that suit THE ENTIRE MISSION. There seems to be a mentality that you should make a add clear build, get to the boss, die, and switch to a boss killing build, that is not the case, that is a crutch that they've provided so you don't have to replay the whole mission again to retry one part if your build just outright doesn't work.

Bosses arent spongey, theyre built with build variety in mind. Congrats you've made it to the boss with your 100% kinetic minigun build! Whats that? the boss has an energy shield? it takes massively reduced damage from kinetic weapons? well you'd best have the ammo because you're gonna be shooting for a while! that said, when that shield drops you will rip that boss open in an instant, simply replacing one shoulder mounted launcher with some high impact energy weapon will let you stagger through that shield much faster, with your miniguns locking the bar from regenerating, I don't think running that energy weapon through the rest of the mission will hurt either? do you NEED two 8 track rocket pods to kill fodder?

Game is getting review bombed due to day 1 server issues, I got through the tutorial and played a bit before the issues set in and it was super fun with what i saw, the character i picked was very stylish and their moves really made me feel like a badass after hitting a parry, really good first impression!
Edit: server issues still out in full force, but I got a good 6 hours of gameplay in and I really enjoy the game, housing is simple but engaging, the combat and dungeon effect combining makes for interesting gameplay variety in your generalised farming with better rewards, I will say the character unlocking seems a bit unclear even to me now, but I was creeping up on getting character memories before the servers died today so we'll see!

I want shorter games with worse graphics made by people who are paid more/earn more to work less. and I'm not kidding.

A wonderful experience and an absolute blast for the price, the replay-ability is extremely high just because replaying the game with all the knowledge you have makes for an exciting, fast, and sometimes goofy experience (I swear I can make this jump without any skills, just one hundred more attempts!), 100% a recommend and such wonderful character designs throughout!

Premium currency used to unlock mech chassis (And guns) and can be converted into normal currency, I hate to say I didn't give the game a fair shot, but for me (And im sure some others) its enough to drive me away on the spot. Sorry devs I miss hawken a lot but not that much :(

A trend ive noticed with the reviews: 1-3 hours played and refunded.
one of the very early Kemono is REALLY bad, like it feels awkward to fight, its hitboxes linger, its animations are weirdly floaty so its hard to counter/reasonably dodge. I would have given this game a negative if i opted to just stop there.
MonHun has had its fair share of bad monsters over the years, and this particular one is that for this game, so far ive had a blast with everything before and after it. edit: the performance is kinda damn awful but if you can see past it with the hope of a patch to fix it then enjoy the rest of the review

Encounters are rewarding to learn, with distinct break points and a satisfying crack often being what leads to a part break, unlike in monster hunter where part breaks kinda /happen/ with a stagger (dont get me wrong its super satisfying all the same!) here theres a bit more audio emphasis on it happening, feels great in my opinion!

The maps are... nice? theyre very pretty and feel extremely lived in, i wish the navigation was a bit easier but that is also part of the map building mechanic (Laying out zips, jump pads, fast travel points to make the maps easier to navigate) so I feel like I cant scale my review on that since I just havent sunk my teeth far enough into it.

You can google to see all of the weapons, but theres no arguing that theyre all really good, BloodBornes trick weapons is one of the things that kept a lot of players glued to the game, this is just that.

The Karakuri system works to replace your pre-hunt setup, instead of bringing flashbombs you're taught the combo for a firework, instead of planting a shock trap when a monster charges you you're taught the combo to put up a wall/counter, im sure for non monhun fans this is more of a selling point than anything (For me it an upsetting simplification but still enjoyable), the materials used for these Karakuri are obtained from glowing nodes in the world, or weak points on monsters.

story?: uhhh yeah its there, I like it so far, hunter style games never really had great story so dont expect much, but its fun and drives you in the right directionan and gives you hints as to when you should be farming some more equipment

Im bad at writing reviews, but I like this game, Id recommend it, its not perfect and its absolutely a questionable $70, especially with the day 1 performance, its just fun? and i think thats what hunter games are about.
