Extremely disappointing.

After the developers made players pay extra on top of the original STRIDE for STRIDE: Fates - its just a completely uninspired experience.

Will come back in a few months to try again, probably when its on sale.

Its a good game with a bad publisher. Adding my positive review to show my support for the developer team after Sony thankfully revoked the mandatory PSN account linking

In all aspects except for performance, Ghostrunner II is a straight up upgrade over the first game. Combat has been improved with new mechanics like the abilities (having shurikens available at any moment barring the cooldown is a godsend) and the new upgrades system. Level design is fun and beautiful. Music is still amazing. Movement is still amazing.

So all the positives aside, lets talk performance.

Unfortunately, the game suffers from some very poor performance in very specific areas. In particular, there are loading triggers that load the next area of the map, and the game will stutter almost every time you enter one of these triggers. Also, arenas with high enemy density are extremely rough on the CPU (i believe) to the point where in a some arenas (only a couple thankfully) my performance drops to 30 FPS on an i9-9900k and a 3080.

I'm sure the developers will work on fixing this performance as it has been improved over time since I started testing, but it wouldn't be a faithful review if I didnt mention it. I will be happy to give this game a modified review after some polishing.

Solid 9/10 experience if you can forgive the performance hiccups.

A true classic. The best game to do parkour ever. Incredible story even if it jumps around a bit (there was apparently a lot of cut content). 112 hours so far and i've only scratched the surface of this games movement mechanics. One of the only games i'd ever give a 10/10.

Early Access Review
Best co-op horror game to come out in the last while. Not so fun Solo, definitely meant to be played with friends, but aside from that an awesome experience especially for early access - great performance and lots of content (if a bit stretched due to the quite slow progression system)

I recently played The Callisto Protocol, and overall I enjoyed the experience. The atmosphere and graphics in the game are absolutely stunning, and really immerses you in the world. I was constantly amazed by the level of detail and the atmosphere in the game.

However, I do have one complaint about the game: the unskippable cutscenes. I understand that they are important for the story, but I found myself getting frustrated when I had to sit through them multiple times during a run. It would be nice if there was an option to skip them, or at least a way to speed them up.

Aside from that, the combat loop in The Callisto Protocol is very satisfying. The weapons feel great to use, and the enemies are challenging but not frustrating. I found myself really enjoying the combat, and I think it's one of the game's strong points.

Overall, I would recommend The Callisto Protocol to fans of the genre. The atmosphere and graphics are amazing, and the combat is satisfying. Just be prepared to sit through some unskippable cutscenes.

P.S. I wrote this with ChatGPT lol

Gameplay and Narrative are absolutely fantastic. Great visuals on the broader scale as well, if you look closely you can see a lack of detail in facial animations in things like that - but I was definitely willing to overlook small things like that for the rest of the great stuff in this game.

At the time of writing this review, the game is on sale for $12 CAD. Don't miss this price, buy the game.

Played a bit off Steam, just through the .exe to get a bit higher FPS so the game took me closer to 85-ish to finish. I ended up doing every single character questline, a ton of the Gigs and other side quests, but I still have a TON left to do on the map which is really exciting.

Elephant in the room, game is pretty buggy. As of this review, version 1.05 is the newest release and is already a significant improvement from the release patch. Growing up with RPGs like Skyrim and Fallout, I have no problem with bugs. A 90% of the bugs I encountered in this game were just comical and if anything, enhanced my experience. That being said, a few times there was some really awful bugs with UI elements being stuck on screen, NPCs not talking to me, etc. Stuff like that. Waiting another couple weeks to a month certainly wouldn't be the worst thing in the world if you want a more polished experience.

Alright, that out of the way. I absolutely ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ LOVE this game. It is absolutely my favourite RPG. That's not to say it will be yours, I've seen so many varying reactions to the extremes of boths sides, it's rather interesting. But obviously this review will be my perspective on the game. The story was damn near a 10/10, but with a few minor exceptions I think I'll give it like a 9.5/10. One of the games mechanics has you painstakingly going through memories of another person and I found it incredibly dull. Thankfully, this only happens a handful of times throughout the game.

The absolute best thing that MAKES this game, is its characters. The writing and performance of this characters is absolutely stellar. Incredible job to the people who were involved here, I was seriously invested in the characters that reside in Night City like no game ever has. Fan-♥♥♥♥♥♥♥-tastic.

Beyond story, I think the RPG mechanics are like a solid "good enough". Skill trees are very rewarding, although basically boil down to stat changes most of the time. Dialog options I think are decent. Doing side quests and sometimes random things will be mentioned later on in the game making you go "oh hey I did that, that's neat". Combat feels extremely awful in the early game, and then very satisfying later on, depending on which build you've decided to go for. The enemy AI is incredibly stupid sometimes, the NCPD of which is the absolutely worst.

Graphically, this game is amazing (on PC, with good hardware). Night City is absolutely gorgeous and full of life. The city streets are busy with cars and people going about their day.

TLDR, this game is amazing and I hope it gets some bug fixes and performance improvements so that more people get to play this fantastic game.

If you're the kind of person who can get super invested in a narrative and its characters, this game is absolutely for you. You will not regret buying it.
