This is a fun game to play. The parkour is excellent. Whooshing around the map with your wingsuit is infinite fun. It just never gets old. You can easily run, wall-run, mantle ledges, slide under obstacles, jump and climb, grapple, rappel on drones, zipline, & glide around in your wingsuit. Movement is fun. It makes Dying Light look old and out-dated in comparison.

Is the game perfect? No, it does indeed have several issues. However, I do think the negative reviews overstate the negatives & just don't enjoy what the game does right. What matters most in a parkour game is movement and that is what this game does absolutely nail. This is Stride 2.0.

So let's talk about the negatives now, yes, indeed the combat is not good. The AI enemies are just plain dumb. Melee combat is bad. Shooting is just okay. You do have manual reloads available in the settings, but I think the classic mode just fits the gameplay better as it matches the fast-paced action (putting your hands down to reload). I did find the handgun to be deadly accurate though. So there is a challenge in getting some headshots while doing some crazy parkour stunt. Superman punches on the junkies also never gets old. So it's not all bad.

There are also some bugs. I fell through the map. Luckily for me, the game does plenty of auto-saves so I didn't lose any progress. There's also this bug on the Quest SDK where the game hangs while loading thinking it is doing Mixed Reality on PCVR. I noticed some pop-in as well.

Game is running on the Unreal Engine 4. On m RTX 3080, I was getting mostly 90 fps, although I did feel some micro-stutters, but they were rare (I think loading in the next section of the map is where it usually happened). You do have full locomotion along with smooth or snap turning available. You can play comfortably seated or standing, as you do have magnet hands, as well as button crouch. You do need to grab some ledges though that are far apart, so I do recommend standing if you can stand it.

Overall, I was having fun playing this game, despite the disappointment in some parts of the game. Yes, the VOs are not the best. The story is also pretty generic. The music is just okay. The sounds overall are fine I guess. This is obviously a Quest port and is a pretty much 1:1 translation. However, the higher resolution makes it look better and it runs better than the Quest stand-alone version. This is some of the most fun parkour that there is in gaming. I do recommend it just for that reason. It's just fun.

This game follows the same fate as every other game created by joy way, and that is not a good thing. They make all their games for the quest, and quest only. Meaning it looks horrible on pc, texture quality looks like a playstation 2 game, and you can't change it because there's zero graphic settings. Their first game this was my biggest complaint, it's not 2012 anymore, if you have a pc that can run pcvr why would you limit the texture quality to mobile graphics? The other reviews are right how everything is AI generated but that's honestly easy to overlook, its just how boring and repetitive the gameplay is. This game could be only an hour long if they didn't spawn enemies over and over for fight sequences just to increase the playtime. You just sit there and kill the same guys over and over again until the internal timer is up. I mainly played this game when it was in beta offline, but booting it up for its full release it looks like nothing has changed since then and there is nothing in their changelog to say there was any bug fixes.

It's so damn boring and a big step back from the first game. They advertise it in the trailer to make you think its going to have physics similar to boneworks...spoiler alert it doesn't. You can't pick weapons or ammo up but instead have to use their "grapple" mechanic because your player keeps grabbing tables or objects thinking you're trying to climb them; not picking them up...

I got this for free due to joy way giving into pressure and not wanting to be labeled as scammers for false advertising for their first game, I cannot recommend it purely because the company insists on making all their games for the quest with zero thought of pc hardware. All of their games seem to be a quick cash grab, every game they have made they release it then completely abandon them, I've purchased their other games and they've received zero bug fixes or quality of life updates in years (which is very much needed for the state they are in).

They need to polish this game up. I stopped playing the game after around 1hr because the mechanics were jank and the graphics on pc are comparable to the quest one. I expected more from joy way the original stride was awesome I loved it but for now id say, save your money. Not gonna lie the ai art is the last thing id be angry about but considering the game itself is bad it shows laziness from the devs.
