easily one of the best if not THE best VR game out there

First I'd like to note a disclaimer that my review could be outdated at some point in the future, due to the game's active development and early access nature. I would rather not discuss minor jankiness that could be ironed out in updates in the near-future.

The game's concept is great, a Monster Hunter-esque MMO in VR with a focus on socializing. And as of now, the core gameplay is pretty nice, especially with the social aspect in mind. I've played at peak hours where most people were on as well as times when the servers were completely empty. I think that while the game can be played single player, it thrives when playing with others. So I'd strongly suggest trying to play when there's multiple people already online if you plan on buying the game yourself alone. I'd also suggest joining the official discord that's linked on the store page as well.

The questing and combat system is rather simplistic as of now, but in my opinion it works in it's favor. Quests at the moment consists of either fetching materials or killing a certain kind of enemy in the wild, you can group up with 3 other players and have free roam of the area you're sent to. You're also free to do resource gathering or hunting enemies while out on a quest or free-roaming the area, most of which serve to upgrade your weapons and armor.

The game in this state as of this review may be short but shows a lot of promise for future improvements and additions in quests, armor, weapons, and possibly other ways to interact with other players in the game. I personally enjoyed welcoming new players and helping them understand the basics, and is probably where most of my time in the game has came from. I'm really excited to see what comes next for this game!

Tbh as fun as the game is the free to play update really screwed up a lot of the good parts that were in the legacy version. I hate to say it but I knew Epic Games would screw this game up somehow.

The free currencies Crowns and Kudos, have completely been re-arranged.
Crowns (a rare currency only obtainable by winning a show) are no longer even a currency and have been converted to Kudos at a decent conversion rate, but that isn't really a good thing to be honest. Because Kudos are now entirely worthless. You can't buy anything of value in the shop now, the most you'll get are singular clothing items, like gloves or shoes or hats. Gone are the days of being able to play and get full costumes after a few shows.

And this is without mentioning that Kudos are no longer an obtainable currency within normal gameplay. Being restricted to 200 Kudos at a time through some levels of the season pass. So not only are you grinding more for worthless currency, but the prices are still the same as if nothing has changed. 2200 kudos for a single ball cap for example, ridiculous.

If you want full costumes of any value, you need to fork up usually 10 dollars worth of "Showbucks" at a time. Scam level pricing for a lot of costumes that have been previously free to obtain.

For the few hours I played when this game was way more active a few years back, this game was genuinely fun. It perfectly recaptured a lot of the old COD feeling. Genuine shame that the devs haven't done much with this game.

Please make it Free to Play, let's see this game revived to how it should be.

It’s good

It's pretty good. Story is a little bland and definitely bland. Character Creation in my opinion has been the best it's been. I prefer voiced players to be honest. They should've handled it differently with maybe having 2 variations so your character doesn't sound like Dadbot 3000 every playthrough.

This game reclaims itself definitely in mods.
