This is one of the few games where I wish I could rate as neutral (or informative, like you can do with curator reviews). This is my first TGM game and coming from someone who pretty much mainly played more traditional-style Tetris games (especially Tetris Effect!) It has a very strong first impression, the base game is great and I love how snappy the menus are with being able to quickly swap between different modes and playstyles ("Standard" and "TGM"), and as a relatively bad Tetris player who hasn't ever really gotten into the nitty-gritty of things (hell, even basic T-Spins scare me lol) this is a great game to get if you're wanting a solid Tetris experience without having to run a whole UE4 game (even though I do love Tetris Effect).

The technical issues lined out in other reviews are very much real, though. Not being alble to rebind keyboard controls is pretty egregious even if it just seems to be a weird technical bug considering you can rebind controller just fine, and fullscreen going away the moment you alt+tab sucks bad too (along with the lack of borderless windowed), It's pretty clear that there's some major Japanesium jank going on which is unfortunate. Even as a beginner I do agree that the controls are a bit slippery, and it makes it a little harder to play even at the speeds I play at, which is nowhere near a grand master (or even master level for that matter) but honestly if you were looking for a review of the exact mechanical aspects of the game I unfortunately cannot help with that.

Overall it seems like this game is a very solid release, its an easy way to play both the major styles of tetris and as a casual player its pretty fun! Maybe not worth the $35 USD currently, especially with the technical issues, but once those are ironed out, I'd certainly say to get it at least on sale.

absolutely terrible performance on a card above the minimum specs, with DLSS set to ultra performance it almost entirely looks like AI slop, any fine detail is lost entirely and even still you don't get much more of a framerate boost compared to performance. a lof of the models look..... fine but most of the changed sounds are just worse. overall you just shouldn't bother downloading this, save the 40 gigs of hard drive space for a better video game

I played this a ton a few years ago when it was on the quest app labs, and even in that much of an early state it was still absolutely incredible, almost certainly helped by the fact that when I played it I had a huge play space to really let the room design breathe. I honestly forgot about it for a bit since I had fallen out of being interested in VR, and then moved, until I finally remembered it again on Christmas and, when I saw it had a Steam release, I bought it instantly. It's still a phenomenal game, and feels shockingly similar to how it felt when I played it however long ago, for better or for worse. For the record, I haven't beaten the game yet, not even close, but even with a much, much, much smaller play space (only enough for 2x3 tiles) it still feels so awesome to play and just.. move around in. It's easily one of my favorite VR games out there, and I absolutely recommend getting it just for the mechanics alone.

The content for this DLC is mostly really great! the art is amazing and the new skins and levels are super cool (though some levels are..... way bigger than they should be), and a few of the new items are actually pretty fun and are genuinely good additions! Unfortunately, the rest of it is either just mediocre or bad, not even mentioning the level of brokenness that the update that came with this DLC brought. Many of the items are just completely forgettable, and the new survivors are kinda cool and have decent mechanics, but I'd rather just play the characters in the vanilla game and the previous DLC, or even just modded ones. I don't think this is worth the asking price of $15 for what it offers, even once the bugs get fixed.

Gearbox sucks, man.

I'd love to have given this game a positive review, I wish I made one before the most recent dlc, Seekers of the Storm, came out. But unfortunately I didn't, and unfortunately Gearbox Software has completely ruined this game.

Risk of Rain 2, before the most recent patch came out, was one of the greatest roguelites ever made by a developer who clearly knew what they were doing and Survivors of the Void is an amazing DLC that added some pretty meaningful changes that fundamentally improved the game.... And I'd honestly prefer to downpatch to the most recent version of the game before SotS than play the game in its current state.

Currently, nearly everything about the game on a mechanical level is broken. Game logic is tied to FPS, meaning that if you have a good PC and and don't lock your framerate to 60 (which, for people with higher refresh rate monitors is obviously a bad option) then more and harder enemies will spawn, abilities and items act differently (either proccing at different speeds, or activating sooner or later than they should), you deal and have more damage dealt to you, and probably much more that I don't even know about.

That, mixed in with all the other gamebreaking (and if you're on console, save deleting) bugs means that I just cannot recommend you get this game unless if you plan on patching to a previous version, but even then I would recommend against financially supporting a complete and utter failure like this. Even without getting the newest DLC, the game is broken. Do not buy it.

Early Access Review
A phenomenal sequel to an already phenomenal game, even in early access it has loads of content, the music is just as good as the first game, the writing and voice acting are as great as ever, I can only imagine how much better it's gonna get by the time it finally hits 1.0

In a surprisingly large sea of incredible 4-player co-op games about throwing your life away for the sake of a faceless company, it's cool to see one with such a huge budget succeed. As it deserves, too! The game is pretty fun, the guns are all fun to use (if a little useless at times against certain enemies), the strategem system is genuinely one of the most fun bits of game design I've seen, and in general blasting aliens and robots while also being given ways to easily kill your friends is fun and funny.

So, why am I giving it a bad review?

Unfortunately, it seems Sony, despite how well the devs have been handling the game in terms of PR and also development, want to get their greedy hands on the game and force you to sign in with a PSN account as well as using a steam account. Typically I don't have any issues with stuff like that, though unwillfully, I will play stuff like Trackmania 2020 while using Ubisoft Connect (or whatever it's called) because those have required account linking from day 1. However, Arrowhead has proven that IT WORKS FINE WITHOUT CONNECTING AN ACCOUNT, so to now force it without any options to opt out is ridiculous, and for the people who can't make a PSN account, this change will make the game entirely unplayable. So unfortunately, as much as I like this game in idea and execution, unless if this change is reversed I'll have to hold back my recommendation.

EDIT: Playstation actually went backj on their word and is now making it an optional thing once more. does that change the fact that what they did happened? No, absolutely not, and I don't think I'll be able to trust anything Sony publishes after this, which is why I'm keeping my original review up. The game is good, if you like it and dont mind their weird-ass kernel level anti-cheat then get it.

One of the funniest, scariest, most fun games you can play with friends. It's kinda like Phasmophobia but on crack

This is a genuinely very fun 3d platformer/metroidvania, its got some light combat and overall is a very good package. Its very obviously meant to be styled as a mix between something out of the ps1 and n64 and it pulls that style off shockingly well, with the "retro" effects being genuinely great. The only thing that I think could make it a little better would be some kind of map, even if its something as basic as a 2d overview, as I did find myself getting lost somewhat frequently, and I think that, along with the lack of a way to figure out how far you are in terms of progression, will keep me from coming back for 100% collection. Even with that though, for $6 USD its an absolute steal for how fun the platforming is and how enjoyable it is as the short, fun package it comes to be.

Cool mod with interesting new puzzle mechanics, as well as pretty well designed puzzles, but with an ending that comes out of nowhere and is relatively just... boring and uninteresting. most times i dont complain about a games length but in this case I think if there were maybe a few more hours of content to be able to give the story some time to breathe, that wouldve been much better than what we ended up getting
