This is story of people who suffers most in the war instead of soldiers which added a different perspective to the story. Sometimes you have to steal from innocent people, sometimes you may even have to kill. This can lead you to sever depression, after all, this is a true story

This edition far beyond than 2013 update. If you grew up with AOE 2, you definitely need to try this game. Even same campaigns has so many updates.
