This game is a rare example of a sequel being truly better than the original. I mean that in both the immediate sense vs. XCOM: Enemy Unknown, but also the original X-COM series.

The game is based in a city, post XCOM 2 and kinda like X-COM: Apocalypse. The tactical side is a little simplified compared to XCOM 1 and 2, but it does not detract from the XCOM experience. The strategic side has you choosing a mission each day, but most are not persistant so you have to balance the needs of the city and keeping order, and what resources you need to get as rewards. The investigation of factions is new and provides the structure for the overall story. I think any XCOM fan will like this game and new players will enjoy it too as an introduction to the franchise.

A great re-imagining of the original. I still have the 3.5 inch install floppies and an old 486 I can play it on. I used to need it because there were so few games like it that I'd want to go back and play it once in a while. I even found the whole Fallout franchise through Fallout: Tactics because I was looking for an X-COM replacement back then.

But I haven't needed to play that one since this one came out.
