I have Metro Exodus in the library, barely played, Deus Ex - unfinished, Doom? Didn't touch much. And when I have an Itch for an atmospheric shooter, I keep re-downloading this game. I only have 32 minutes in this as of writing, but I've been playing this game every year since I bought it 5 years ago. I never even finished it, only got through a handful of missions before I stop. But I still keep coming back.

UPDATE : I have finished the game twice now. Holy hell. This game is amazing

This is kitchen destroying simulator. A youtuber bait. But you can't even have a laugh with your friends because multiplayer is just terrible.

"140+ lifelike ingredients, Realistic physics"
What a load of sh*te. If you know how to cook at all, or have been anywhere near the kitchen, and want to make a semi-decent looking plate in this game, this game will piss you the f*ck off. This is just surgeon simulator, but cooking. This is a game that tries to be funny by making you a disabled human form of anus warts with wet tissue paper equivalent of motor function. If that is what you want, it sure accomplished. But then it means that the description is a complete BS.

Ingredient slides around without friction. Completely solid like a pile of legos. When you grind down a chunk of meat, it becomes clear pink liquid. You can't even make scrambled eggs. Kitchen is so empty, there's not even a colander or a proper sauce pan. Most tools works half the time (except for the blow-torch, the dev made sure it works because it makes the ha-ha)

This is a shoddy a$$ cooking game.

Good game, but I only play this game for poker and night drive.

You ever watched the movie: Drive, played by Ryan Gosling? Driving at night feel like the first scene from that movie.
This game also has the most immersive poker minigame I've ever seen.

I wish there's a middle ground between yes and no,

I am a big fan of XCOM, Wasteland, and Shadowrun games, I thought I am the intended demographic of this game. I was wrong.
This is not a game you can play any way you want. Your character stat needs to be well crafted and calculated. It's the game that you may need to look up builds online and restart multiple times to get things right, or the gap of power between you and a common thugs would be too high to even stand a chance. It is something that I neither willing nor have enough willpower to do. I've played enough rogue-likes and souls-borne to be familiar with trying over and over to overcome an obstacle gameplay-loop, but this aint it for me, chief... I'd like to expand on this a bit:

The world building and dialogue is great. It is worth experiencing. As someone who likes the setting of dark sci-fi and gritty spaceship, like stasis and pendulum, I fell in love with this colony ship very quickly. The problem with this is repeated exposure to the starting area over and over due to having to tune my build dilute the well crafted setting for me. The novelties of the design washes off by obstacles so hard to overcome without having to pay the price of being who I wanted to be. A streisand effect of a role playing game that ceased to be an RPG by not letting the player play the role they want. (the experience differs from player to player of course, but this is mine.)
This is not a mistake by developer, It is an intended feature. Clearly this is one of those hardcore RPG. Clearly it is not meant for me.

Despite all that I have nothing but respect for the art department. Frankly the beautifully crafted environment is what made me buy the game in the first place. I will not be refunding this, consider it a donation to the art-piece, And when I one day return to the game again, I will cheat the ♥♥♥♥ out of it so that I could enjoy this somber universe with decent momentum, with a save editor or whatever.
You can call me filthy casual, I don't mind.

CDProjektRED. I love you guys. You made great games, including this. This is good. But this is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ ass launch. This is comparable to Fallout 76 level of bad launch. It crashes literally every 15 minutes. (I have a decent PC, with GTX1070) there's graphical glitch all over the place. (fixed)
It's still could be way better.
I suggest not buying this game - yet, if you haven't already. For the sake of your suspension of disbelief.
YOU CANNOT HAVE A SECOND FIRST IMPRESSION.

i will update this review once the patch roll out.

UPDATE 06/06/21 : Still not yet. Keep waiting.

UPDATE 18/09/21 : Still nope. This game is getting fixed at a pathetic pace.

Simple, and short.

I always look for a game where I can just drift through melancholic landscape with soft beautiful melody, this is almost it. The journey is easy but feel desperate, the feeling of hopelessness looms around on every valley and plains you go through. It is beautiful though. I finds peace in this kind of thing.

Although this game feels more like an art piece than a game. There's barely any challenge in the puzzle, but It make me feel something. And that is what make me write reviews.
I don't write this kind of things for a game that I find no emotional value in.

In a hindsight.
Everything is cheesy, dialogue is terribad, voice acting is cringe, but whatever. Who read dialogues in an MMO anyway?
You move super slow like, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. But I aint giving a thumbdown for this. Gameplay is good, there's plentiful enemies to hack down at once, and combat is satisfying.

I wonder if this game has an Art Director at all?? The visual lacks contrast, the darkest point is gray, the lightest is: guess what, another shade of gray. Granted you cannot make the background too busy in a game where there's tons of enemies and projectile. But guess what, MU failed at that too. They did not masked the character to be more vibrant than the environment. It just got swallowed up into the foggy grayness of failed art.
The other ARPG archieved this visual sweet spot by having one dominant color for each area. NOT GRAY.

They really went all in on the character models and the equipment, like any other korean rpg, and it looks good. But it seem that they spared no expense on this department and neglecting the environment department completely. The environment managed to look worse than Titan Quest from 2006. Clearly very little effort was put into it. and the low contrast did not help.

Im going to create a Reshade preset for this crap. I don't care if I'd get banned for hacking.

This game broke me, tore me apart, and then put me back together better than I ever were; like no game has ever done before. It changed me.
This masterpiece deserves praise in every departments, from art to it's mechanics. I usually talk about art direction and environment design, but this time I want to talk about the story.

Nier:Automata, really is basically a story of pretty dolls ploughing through beautifully designed cityscape kill supposedly evil machines that doesn't seem as evil as it seems - in not a very subtle way. Sprinkle lots of existential crisis and philosophical dread on top and there you have it, Nier:Automata at a hindsight... But what really hooked me is the character development, chemistry, banters, unique ways to tell a story, a signature quality by YOKO TARO - a talented game director who hates happiness. This game goes to dark places, not afraid to let the protagonists(?) suffers. When you do a fallen hero trope YOU FOLLOW IT THROUGH. Many game/movie tends to pu$$y out just an inch before the said hero could commit atrocities and then redeem him/her just in time. BullshXt! When the hero falls there should be a consequance and if you gonna redeem the hero, make him realize his fault and let him/her suffer the punishment. YOKO TARO went all the way through, here. (and further than what you would expect.) and it is glorious.
