Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is a game that still has more work to be done on it. However, as someone that is approaching 1,000 hours of game time, I think many of the negative reviews are less than 100% deserved. A common gripe I see is regarding the crafting system; Yes, if you're going to play difficulties no higher than Malice, you're going to have a bad time with the current crafting (if you want to call it that) system. Get out of your comfort zone, play on Heresy/Damnation, get in a good groove with your favorite class, and the ordo dockets & plasteel will rain down from the Emperor himself.

Pros:

The game-play loop is extremely solid; It's the perfect mix between melee and ranged.

It's amazing for anyone that just wants to get in and out; 30 minute adventure.
Seriously, if you have a job, wife, kids, HOA meetings, etc., Darktide is great for
scratching that gaming itch while not getting you sucked in too much and you have a
sudden realization it's 3am and you have an all-hands meeting at work tomorrow at
9am.

The grim-dark aesthetic of WH40K is perfectly captured by the artists and level designers.

Each character class has multiple build possibilities, giving everyone with particular play styles to find their niche.

Cons:

The crafting grind (this is getting worked on - update expected around Sep-Oct 2024).

Server stability (Error 2014, etc.). Server disconnects are still a problem after all this time.

Local client stability - I'm not sure about anyone else, but my system experiences hard, sudden crashes to desktop more often than they should (once every few missions). I have an all AMD system (Ryzen 7 5700X3D, Radeon 7800XT, 32GB RAM - 4x 8GB Corsair). I've run all manners of RAM error checking, CPU/GPU stress tests, etc., and I get nothing to indicate a hardware fault. Darktide is the only game I run in to these issues with. I've tried running the experimental build per the Fatshark forum recommendations - still get crashes once in a while. It should be noted that I never experienced these crashes when I was running a Ryzen 5 3600 and nVidia RTX 2600 Super, so it has to be my hardware, but I don't know whether to blame the actual hardware or the drivers.
