I rarely play games lately. Since 2017 there has been a noticeable sharp deterioration in the quality of games, especially in the AАА segment. Constant monetization (even in single games), crude release copies of games, live services and simply the most boring toothless games stuffed with an agenda make themselves felt, causing complete disgust from these creations of large studios.

I think at this point it's no longer a secret to anyone that games have ceased to be art. Companies have no need to undertake a new, interesting, conceptually complex project since these are huge risks that can entail huge financial losses. It is easiest for companies to follow a well-trodden path that is according to predefined templates. Making an open world, adding a bunch of chests on the map, outposts and towers. If a shooter is being made then it will definitely be somewhat similar in style to Overwatch with various skins, ludboxes and Battle passes. Due to the strong desire to report to investors, games are always made under tight deadlines and as a rule, they are always unfinished. There may also be problems within the studios themselves, such as budget overruns, management issues and work culture issues. The constant buying up of smaller studios by large publishers and their subsequent destruction also plays an important role in this endless commercial chaos.

All the games we love were made by artists. Now games are made by businessmen which is why the whole industry is drowning in crap.

The popularity of Elden Ring is not the salvation of the industry, but a complete failure for it. Due to the lack of variety in games, everyone flocked to play Souls Likes. Companies caught wind of this and also rushed en masse to make their own Souls Like games, either with Pinocchio mixing Sekiro and Bloodborn or Souls Like with a cartoon crab (this is so completely absurd). Oddly enough, Elden Ring became an innovative game due to the presence of an open world. Now imagine what will happen if you make a Live Service game with chests, ludboxes and outposts and add Souls Like elements with the same reinforcement system. This is exactly how I imagine the demise of this genre. It will be funny where new Souls Like games will add paid skins, weapons, ludboxes, paid experience boosters that will allow you to quickly level up.

Human fanaticism has always reached extremes in everything. The same goes for marketing in games. This is just another extreme of the entertainment industry. The same thing happens with music, films and books. From now on, in modern realities, everything will always be divided into two parts: pop content which will be consumed and forgotten and unsurpassed classics which will be remembered and appreciated forever.

My name is Alexander. I have been interested in the gaming industry since 2011. For a long time I was a console player, starting my journey with PS3. For a long time I played on PS4, which until recently was my main gaming platform. Subsequently, due to Sony's stupid policy, namely the ban of the PSN service in Russia and the leaks of exclusives on PC, I decided to give my preference to PC gaming.

Moreover, Sony has chosen a conveyor belt strategy for development, which is why the quality of their games has been suffering greatly lately. Instead of making new games, they continue to milk old projects, making constant sequels that are technically no different from previous games. And because of the agenda, the plots in their games have become bland and boring.

About favorite games.

I think my favorite games are Bloodborne and RDR2. especially Bloodborne. I have never seen a better game in my life. This game evokes a nostalgic, pleasant feeling of fear and longing. The game has a great concept and visual style. Oh, this beautiful visual style just gives me goosebumps. What grandeur, what pathos mixed with a melancholic atmosphere of hopelessness. After completing this game, I mostly lost interest in many projects, so unattainable is this ideal for me personally.


I am also a big fan of the Metro and The Witcher series. I think you already know how good these games are)


About my favorite music.

In music, I prefer Black Metal, Death Metal and especially Melodic Death Black Metal is one of my favorite genres in music as it combines a balance of melody and malice. My favorite bands: Dissection, Unanimated, Dismember, Burzum, Ragnarok, Horna, Darkthrone, Thulcandra, Sinira, Dark Funeral. Of all the above, I like Dissection band the most, especially the album The Somberlain. In my personal intuitive opinion, this album is very similar in concept to the game Bloodborne. I think it is because of this wild similarity that The Somberlain album has sunk into my soul. After all, even the design of the album itself is stylistically similar to Bloodborne and the lyrics and the melodies themselves are as ominous and melancholic as the game itself.

Bloodborne and The Somberlain are two extremes of the same essence, created independently of each other. Both telling about existential loneliness and overcoming your own essence.

About literature.


Of literature, I naturally prefer scientific academic literature. (NOT ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ POPULAR SCIENCE), which does not give any clear ideas, but only demonstrates a superficial view of complex things that simply cannot be explained in simple language. Popular science is a consumerist and thoughtless attitude to science, which has turned it into entertainment for infantile people who want to seem smart, and in the end, because of superficiality, they further arm their stupidity.


I don't consider the humanities to be science at all. Because the humanities have an easy entry threshold and lack clear criteria. They give rise to a bunch of charlatans and false experts and simply ignorant people who do not understand what they are studying or are simply looking for answers that do not exist. I'm afraid it's worth writing a whole article about the unscientific nature of the humanities)


Science allows me to form my own vision of the world, that is the overall picture of what is happening around me, allowing me to see the complex mechanics and flow of processes that surround us in everyday life. The books that have made the greatest contribution to shaping my views on this world: James Watson (Molecular Biology of the Gene). Mikhail Nikitin (The Origin of Life: From Nebula to Cell). Sergey Savelyev (Atlas of the Human Brain). Alexander Markov's series of books about human evolution. Richard Feynman (Feynman Lectures on Physics). I think that these books will be able to form a competent idea of a person and the world around us. After reading this literature, you will already have basic knowledge, after which you can delve into more complex and specific literature.

At the moment I am on the verge of quitting playing games. I am already tired of our current era where everything is based on a soulless cult of endless consumption which after a long evolution has outlived itself. Instead of constantly consuming a bland commercial product, I basically spend all my time creating something of my own. At the moment I spend all my free time drawing or creating design projects. To some extent these activities are also useless. Like everything in this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ life.

In my opinion it is better to spend more time in real life than in some games.Your entire library of games on Steam, your inventory, your level, your profile. None of this belongs to you. At any moment, sooner or later, all of this will be taken away from you or blocked like PSN in Russia. Everything that is in the digital space does not belong to us. It is just an illusion.
