One of the few large games I kept installed on my Steam Deck, but now Online is broken for no good reason.

This game is prodigiously empty. Over 100GB installs have become painfully familiar in recent years, but few games demand so much space while offering so little playable content. I'd wager the vast majority of that install size is 4K textures for the many paid cosmetic items that constitute most of this game's excitement. There is a half-decent concept buried under that weight, but the brief moments of progression you might feel at each stop on the few narrative questlines are severely undercut by the game then asking you to sail to a spot, interact with an object, and then rinse and repeat. You might get to kill one of about six different enemy types with the 4 functionality different weapons this game offers somewhere in there too.

Wind Waker figured out how to make sailing fun 20 years ago. Black Flag figured it out again a decade ago. It's a bummer I can't play those games with a friend, but when you have no destination, progress, or compelling quest, even playing with friends is a hollow experience.

Harvest Moon: Back to Nature was one of my favorite games as a kid. After 18 years, Stardew released as the first worthy successor to that legendary game. Since then, it's only become better, adding multiplayer and a whole new set of endgame activities as completely free updates. I cannot recommend this game enough whether you plan on playing solo or with friends. Many other great farm indies have popped up since Stardew launched, but none have been so perfectly able to capture so much magic.

A wonderful environmental puzzler framed by an intriguing sci-fi narrative. Comparisons to Portal are warranted, but The Entropy Centre's core mechanics and story are wholly its own.

A truly wonderful game that I should tell you nothing about. Let yourself become immersed in it and you will not regret it for a moment.

There are a lot of games in this world, but only a handful might be considered great. And, of that select few, only a minute portion can instill the sense of wonder and joy that Psychonauts oozed with. That's a lot to live up to. Yet somehow Psychonauts 2 manages to do exactly that. It takes so much of what made that first game unique and expands outward to find new forms and feelings in that same rich, creative vein from which the first game was born.

"What color is the sky in your world?" was the question that drove Psychonauts 1's development and all its wonderfully weird minds. Psychonauts 2 returns to that question with a slew of new worlds, and an utterly unique palette of colors to paint the skies with.

One of the best written games of all time. It's clever, charming, and wonderfully different from anything else.

Very few games manage to have timelessly excellent gameplay or story. Portal 2 has both in droves.
