It's a whole package. Stellar graphics, beautiful (and gruesome) locations, great voice acting and companionship. Combat is not revolutionary, but the constant additions throughout the game keep adding to the fun.

The current greatest Sci-Fi trilogy that still stands to this day. Go in blind, enjoy the ride.

It's like a wardrobe. You look at its outside features and don't think much of it until you open the door and walk inside, where you suddenly fall into Narnia. It's that deep.

An epic journey.

Even with it's issues, this title's accomplishments is worth the journey through Middle Earth.

The world and its aesthetics

One of the highlights, a miniaturized Middle Earth to mess around in and explore to your heart's content.

For the Completionists

While the story missions and open world are superb, the completionist side can become a controller throwing mess. Platforming issues, wall climbing missaps and touchy character swapping can become frustrating.

To summarise

✅ The Story is great even with the addition of voiced characters.
✅ Middle Earth is a dream to explore.
✅ The treasures are fun and helpful.
❌ The Open World Completionist side is painful with a meriad of bugs.

A grade A Super-Game

The jump in quality compared to its predecessors that caused me to stop and complete every title before this one.

The world and its aesthetics

Open-world Gotham in its beautiful Lego form. The Lego interaction and destruction is much more detailed, and I was blown away when more and more heroes and villains were unlocked, allowing me to travel across the world in different ways.

For the Completionists

For the story missions, it's straight forward, just like in the older titles. The open-world, however, will take patience. I was never bored while running around collecting everything. I just took a little time off here and there and came back fresh. There are small issues, but the overall achievement of this game outshines them.

To summarise

✅ A huge step up in total quality in every regard.
✅ Gotham is stunning.
✅ Some jaw-dropping story moments.
✅ The roster is very unique.
❌ These are all minor issues. The highest on the list is the flying controls in the open world, but you will get used to them quickly.

A swashbuckling experience like no other.

The world and its aesthetics

Beautiful, straight and simple. The hub is a little lackluster, but the mission maps are incredible and replicate those of the movies.

For the Completionists

As with most other LEGO titles, it's best to go for the necessary red bricks first; after that, it's streamlined. The last mission needed to be 100% is a blast to play. The only issue is the random crashes whilst going for completion.

To summarise

✅Beautiful visuals and maps.
✅The roster holds every character you'll want to play as.
❌The random crashes can sour the experience.

Traveller's Tales pulls off the impressive.

The world and its aesthetics

This was the first LEGO title that made my jaw drop. I'm not even talking about the set pieces inside the missions, which were incredible. The whole hub was impressive. Having two ships battling it out while giving you the ability to explore them both and allowing you to try all the various land and space vehicles is a dream.

For the Completionists

For the most part, it's straightforward, and allowing access to most red bricks through the hub world made completion much faster. The only gripe would be that the ground battles can become repetitive.

To summarise

✅The game received a significant facelift, and the world interactions felt more alive.
✅Smooth combat.
✅Engine upgrades allow hundreds of units on-screen.
❌Chasing completion can cause the ground battles to become boring.

Traveller's Tales fuses their last two titles into a massive experience.

The world and its aesthetics

The Mos Eisley Cantina is a part of my childhood. I spent hours messing around, causing bar fights and enjoying the world around me.

For the Completionists

The double-edged sword. As this was the first for TT for the first two games and the eventual merge into what we have now, they added many features to allow replayability. And in the year before the next LEGO title, it gave reason to keep playing. As a completionist in 2022, it can be, sadly, monotonous. Story Mode and Free Mode are staples, and I thoroughly enjoyed them. Challenge Mode was another run through the missions, having to find blue canisters hidden in different areas. This is where it started to become repetitive. Then there's Super Story mode, which requires you to complete all six story levels in each chapter. This burned me out where watching a show while completing this occurred. Despite all this, I have no ill will against how this title was made and the formulas that TT will use in the future stemmed from here.

To summarise

✅The combination of two earlier titles, revamped into a massive game.
✅Huge Roster
❌Tiny distance when switching characters.

The precursor for the much larger open world titles.

The world and its aesthetics

As I've seen, it's a mixed bag in the community. To be honest, I enjoyed every minute of it. The micro-worlds of the Indiana Jones movies were amazing, and this title was the first of mine to complete everything (besides Creator Mode).

For the Completionists

It was super easy and the open world areas made completion a blast. The only small downside is the creator mode being an oddity to complete for 100%.

To summarise

✅The Complete Indiana Jones Adventure.
✅Combat is much more fluid, Indy's whip makes stud collecting smooth.
✅Hub Based Worlds feels like I'm a kid in a candy shop.
❌The creator mode requirements for 100% are brain-numbing.
