Played a few quick skirmish matches, so take my review at a purely mechanical level. Played during the free weekend and was very underwhelmed.

Pros:
Really cool setting
Cool graphics
Unique design
Interesting factions
Good quality voice acting, especially in German

Cons:
Gameplay is far slower than CoH
Tech Tree is barebones as ♥♥♥♥ (no unit upgrades, singular upgrades for ressource buildings, only 2 buildings for units, so basebuilding is essentially pointless)
Pathfinding is atrocious, this is doubly true for slow units
Brunhilde, while cool looking, has the brains of a rat, gets frequently stuck and NEVER makes use of her broadside cannons

Overall, the game is extremely shallow from a gameplay perspective. Maybe the campaign is worth it, but after having played the *real* game, it felt really bland with the depth of a tablespoon. STILL, I hope the devs aren't discouraged and hope they will be more successful for their next DLCs/games!

Early Access Review
Valheim is a fun game for sure, but don't be blinded by glowing reviews.

It's still very much in Early Access and with good reason. It still has bugs and a lot of the features aren't complete.
Bugs/Grievances include:
- Buildable walls, floors etc not snapping onto each other, making building complicated and annoying
- Ground can't ever be properly made even, yes even with the hoe
- Making ramps of any kind is nigh impossible with the current terrain issues
- World Seed can ♥♥♥♥ you over entirely, spawning the Trader, a vital component, on the other side of the map
- Biomes sometimes are generated extremely poorly
- Combat is extremely basic and imbalanced. 2h weapons are pretty pointless because they deal the same damage as 1h weapons
- Bosses are generally fun, but some have stupid resistances to your favourite weapon
- The Raft is absolutely pointless to build and even worse to use
- Deer and Wolves are super ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ loud ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ my ears
- Progression is a slog and a lot of ressources don't respawn
- Dungeons aren't repopulated, they're one-and-done which sucks
- Hunting and gathering resources is often a slog and takes too long
- Cost to craft some items increases super quickly, this becomes especially noticeable with Iron and Silver
- Comfort levels are kinda weird and buggy. Building a gigantic throne increases your comfort level, but building a wodden chair next to it decreases comfort level for some reason
- Exploration through sailing, while fun, can become extremely tedious if the wind doesn't blow in your direction. One of the powers you can have only relief this temporarily.
- You can't teleport with any metals whatsoever. While understandable, this should be an option to turn on/off when you generate your own world

Overall I like Valheim. It's definitely fun to play and a game with great potential, but right now I can't really recommend it, since the honeymoon phase is over for me. Still great once the devs fix the bugs and add more content.

The Factory Must Grow is a meme thats thrown around a lot here, but it really is the core principle of the game.
In short it has 5 Stages: Research - Build - Automate - Improve - Scale - repeat
You research new tech - you build it to see how it works.
You then spend hours building an automated process to build new stuff.
You realize that your initial build can be improved.
Lastly, you scale up the production as necessary.

There's always something to do when you don't actively need to build or improve anything - improve and automate your defenses, build walls, lay down cement tiles to improve your walk speed, build trains and cars to new deposits etc.

The core principle always applies - The Factory Must Grow.

Despite Lord Mandalores glowing review, I can't for the life agree with him.

The controls are absolute ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ in any mode, whether relative or absolute. They both come with their ups and downs. A lot of times you find yourself stuck or unaware of your hulls position to where you're aiming. If you press E, the hull aligns where you're aiming... so why can't that be a control scheme?

This is why Gravlev/Hover vehicles handle like absolute trash too. Either control scheme is absolutely terrible for them.

The straw that broke the camels back for me is that the game doesn't tell you the exact stats, ammo, rof, firing mode etc when you want to unlock them. For vehicles and pilots, you get at least what guns they can carry (heavy, aux, etc) and for pilots you get some vague stats too. From the few vehicles I unlocked and played, they all share the specialty: tanks have a slight speed boost, mechs slam and hover cars go... uhhh... I dunno, like they just slam onto the ground.

Mandalore also praised the music a lot and I agree. It's definitely nice and all... but more often than not in the actual gameplay, it often times cuts out or gets overwhelmed by some of the sound effects. So you never really get to hear it in its glory.

The only redeeming quality I can say is that graphically it looks amazing. But if you've been kneecapped by the controls and shot in the head by the lack of information, the visuals should at least be appealing.
